The Trust is seeking to appoint a Consultant in Intensive Care Medicine. This is a substantive post, and applicants will be expected to have suitable experience within Intensive Care Medicine. The new appointee will share the caseload, facilities, and trainee grade support with the existing consultants. Requirements of the post-holder are listed below. The post is whole time and offers 8.5 Direct Clinical Care Programmed Activities (PAs) and 1.5 Supporting Professional Activities (SPAs). This post has been created to support the expansion of the Intensive Care Unit and to improve care for patients with tracheostomies, as well as to provide cover for the ITU follow-up clinic. The post holder will hold a CCT in Intensive Care Medicine. Experience working as a locum consultant in Intensive Care, or a fellowship in Intensive Care, would be advantageous. The appointment is to the Trust, not to specific hospitals. The appointee will take his/her share of clinical responsibilities within the Department of Intensive Care Medicine, working alongside the existing 29 ITU Consultants. This will include provision of the ITU follow-up clinic and tracheostomy ward round, as outlined in the job plan above. This service supports young people who are unable to access traditional classroom-based education, and with highly complex needs including: neurodiversity, attachment disorders, complex challenging behaviours, trauma-related mental health needs, social and family challenges. The TIP will work closely with the Senior Leadership Team, to implement all assessments and integration plans through working collaboratively with the interagency multi-disciplinary team and Therapeutic Educational Practitioners (TEP). This is to ensure that we provide an environment in which young people can thrive and reach their full potential from isolation to independence through the delivery of a joined-up programme of interventions based on the "5-part curriculum". The TIP will hold a case load of assessment/integration students that is supervised by the Senior Leadership Team.
