The Role Due to the increased workload, we are seeking to recruit Senior Flood Engineers. The successful candidate will undertake and oversee the production of Flood Management design, working within a dedicated flood management design engineering team. The successful candidate will work collaboratively within the Flooding and Water Management team in our Belfast or Cardiff offices, providing effective support and assistance to the engineers and team leaders on a variety of flood schemes. We have been confirmed as the lead engineering consultant working with the NI Department for Infrastructure (DFI) on their Water and Departmental Delivery contract for the next five years, as well as NI Transport Asset Management and Translink contracts. We are working on a range of flood management projects for Regional Authorities in Wales, South-West and Midlands areas, National Highways and National Rail, and looking to expand further in these areas. Being an experienced Senior Flood Engineer at Amey Consulting, you’ll have the chance to focus on the parts of your role you most enjoy. In a typical week you will: • Develop flood designs following the client’s requirements and relevant design standards, • Represent the business stream in multi-disciplined project teams, • Prepare and check the feasibility studies, appraisal and assessment reports, • Development of engineering solutions and presentation of engineering options, • Produce and check flood design concepts, design details, drawings specifications and other technical documents, • Assist in the preparation and monitoring of the budget for projects including the planning, monitoring and reporting of project resources, • Develop and maintain excellent working relationships with the client and other relevant stakeholders, • Support the preparation of bids and delivery of services on other contracts, • Inspection work, feasibility studies, cost estimating for works and fees, • Undertake site supervision duties of contractors and when required We want to hear from you if you have: • A keen interest in flood engineering and you can demonstrate experience and expertise, probably gained in an Engineer/ Senior Engineer role or equivalent, • A Bachelors or Masters degree in an appropriate subject, • Chartered status held with an appropriate professional body and at least 5 years post graduate experience in the feasibility, design, supervision and overall management of flood risk management based civil engineering projects, • Ability to produce or oversee the production of technically sound engineering solutions, complying with all relevant technical standards and client requirements, • Experience in undertaking project related tasks associated with health, safety and welfare, e.g. Construction (Design and Management) Regulations or equivalent, • Knowledge of the application of technical governance procedures within a consulting engineering environment, • Knowledge of technical governance procedures and how they are applied within a consulting engineering environment, • Strong analytical, written, communication and presentation skills., • Excellent teamwork skills.
