    We are looking for a Communications Manager to join our ambitious organisation on a full- or part-time basis. The successful candidate will shape, lead and execute Bright Blue’s communications strategy. They will be responsible for ensuring the think tank continues to have an impactful relationship with the media, implementing an effective digital strategy and leading the think tank’s external affairs. We are looking for an ambitious and entrepreneurial individual who passionately believes in and can clearly articulate Bright Blue’s principles and ideas. They will help our organisation become one of the most high-profile and impactful policy voices in the UK. There is the opportunity for rapid promotion. The role will involve some travel and hours can be irregular, to suit the timing of meetings and events. Main responsibilities: • Plan and implement a detailed and strategic communications strategy for report releases and reactive interventions., • Lead a communications programme for our events., • Engage and build a network with key stakeholders such as journalists, PR and PA professionals, producers, special advisers, MPs, officials and regulators., • Implement and run Bright Blue’s digital assets, including our social media, website and Centre Write., • Coordinate the Bright Blue Community., • Secure significant coverage of the work of Bright Blue in print and broadcast media., • Brief and support the wider Bright Blue team on media speaking appearances., • Write press releases and place articles for Bright Blue., • Help secure funding for the organisation., • Be a spokesperson for the organisation in both traditional and social media. Person specifications: • Experience working in a communications or media role., • Proficiency with the use of and promotion through social media, such as X, Instagram and YouTube., • Strong interpersonal skills and an ability to build good working relationships with multiple external stakeholders., • An understanding of how to promote research and other activities of a think tank., • A network of contacts, including journalists, MPs and special advisers., • Strong tech-literacy with Adobe, Canva, WordPress, Elementor and email marketing programmes., • A strong background in and knowledge of politics and public policy., • A belief in Bright Blue’s core values. This position is based in London. Bright Blue has a hybrid working arrangement with at least three days in the office each week and the rest working from home. Closing date: 9am, 1st December 2025. Interviews will take place in December. Salary: £30,000 – £40,000 full-time, dependent on experience, or the equivalent part-time pro rata salary. Skills and Qualifications • A Bachelor’s degree., • Minimum of 5 years’ professional experience., • Excellent written and verbal communication, with the ability to craft engaging content for diverse audiences., • Proven ability to build and maintain relationships with business partners, licensors, community representatives, and other key stakeholders., • Experience planning and executing promotional events, launches, or public-facing campaigns., • Ability to identify communication opportunities aligned with business strategy and brand objectives., • Familiarity with social media platforms and digital communication channels for audience engagement., • Strong cultural awareness; Mandarin language skills highly desirable for international operations., • Ability to monitor public sentiment, competitor activity, and industry trends, and translate insights into actionable recommendations., • Skilled in supporting communication during sensitive or high-profile situations, demonstrating sound judgement and problem-solving., • Strong project management, prioritisation, and multitasking abilities.
