About You We are looking for an adaptable, skilled, and passionate Sous Chef to join our production kitchen team on a Temp-to-Perm basis. This model gives you the opportunity to hit the ground running, learn our group systems, and ensure mutual fit before transitioning into a permanent leadership role within our growing hospitality group. As our Temp-to-Perm Sous Chef, you will work alongside our Head Chef to drive prep, production, and service execution across our event portfolios and corporate catering channels. Youll be hands-on in the kitchen, leading CDP and commis staff, upholding strict hygiene standards, and ensuring every dish meets our quality and sustainability benchmarks. Key Responsibilities Reports to: Head Chef Kitchen Leadership & Service Hands-on Cooking & Prep: Oversee day-to-day prep lists, hot/cold line execution, and event packing for off-site catering operations. Second-in-Command Support: Step up in the Head Chefs absence to manage kitchen output, direct line staff, and keep shifts running smoothly. Team Supervision: Guide and mentor Commis Chefs and CDPs, ensuring consistent plating, portion control, and speed without sacrificing quality. Operations & Standards Food Safety & Compliance: Maintain top-tier hygiene (HACCP, COSHH, food safety regulations, allergen management) and lead deep-cleaning routines. Waste & Sustainability Management: Support our group commitment to zero-waste production, seasonal ingredient rotation, and sustainable kitchen practices. Inventory & Ordering: Assist in stock control, supplier receiving, shelf-life rotation, and minimizing yield loss. Temp-to-Perm Process Initial Temp Period (13 Months): Paid hourly/weekly. You will embed with the team, demonstrate your technical skill, and evaluate the culture and workflow. Evaluation & Review: Mid-point check-ins to align expectations, share feedback, and set goals. Permanent Transition: Upon successful completion of the temporary phase, you will transition to a permanent salaried contract with expanded benefits and long-term group progression opportunities. What Were Looking For Qualifications & Requirements Experience: 2+ years of experience as a Senior Chef de Partie or Sous Chef within high-volume events catering, boutique hospitality, or fast-paced fresh food operations. Culinary Skill: Strong fundamental cooking techniques, understanding of British seasonal ingredients, and modern catering assembly. Safety Certification: Food Hygiene Level 2 or 3 certified (Level 3 preferred). Work Ethic: Calm under pressure, solution-oriented, and highly organized in a production-style kitchen environment. Flexibility: Comfortable working a flexible schedule, including weekends and early mornings depending on event bookings. Desirable Skills Drivers license (a plus for event setup support). Experience with off-site event catering assembly and logistics.
