We are looking appoint a Principal Civil Engineer - Water Engineering to join our team in London to meet our growing business needs and future development aspirations . We also work closely with a number of contractors supporting development of designs in a collaborative working environment. You will work across an array of cleanwater infrastructure and non-infrastructure projects as part of our experienced teams in London, Leicester, Manchester and Leeds offices. There will also be opportunity to work across number of wastewater infrastructure and Better Rivers projects. Your core responsibilities will include: • Creating designs from feasibility through to construction and leading the technical design of projects for a variety of projects in terms of size, type, and complexity, both single discipline and as part of a multi-disciplinary team., • Supporting with the appraisal and design of structures and solutions for pumping stations, cleanwater networks, and reservoirs., • Mentoring junior colleagues and supporting their development., • Representing the firm at client meetings, contributing to us winning new work., • Supporting project and team management. About You Our Principal Civil Engineer - Water Engineering will have: • A degree or equivalent in civil engineering, working towards a professional qualification., • CEng with post chartered relevant experience or IEng with post incorporated relevant experience working in the cleanwater sector., • Experience managing cleanwater infrastructure schemes., • Good knowledge of industry design software packages., • Excellent communication skills and a team player with a confident, positive and enthusiastic attitude., • A high level broad-based technical appreciation., • Very good report writing and presentation skills at project level., • Experience in a variety of different forms of contract., • Confident liaising with new and existing clients and an ability to build a good rapport with other parts of our inter-disciplinary practice, and with external design teams., • Robust problem solving skills, taking accountability for assigned work., • The ability to lead a sub-team, focused on delivery of high quality design output., • Experience in mentoring and technical management of a design team., • Experience related to wastewater networks/infrastructure (desirable not essential) ., • Previous experience writing and presenting reports along with client interaction and work winning (desirable not essential). Protection & Control Team Lead Location: United Kingdom - Hybrid working to the nearest office Salary: up to £90,000 + benefits (depending on previous experience) Position: Permanent Turner Lovell is recruiting for a Protection & Control Team Lead to join a growing engineering design consultancy delivering HV infrastructure and grid connection projects across the UK. This is a senior, hands-on role combining technical leadership with team management. You will lead and support a team of around 10 Protection Engineers while delivering protection design across LV-HV substation projects, working closely with DNOs and network operators. Key Responsibilities: • Lead the design and coordination of Protection & Control systems up to 400kV., • Produce protection schemes including AC/DC schematics, transformer and feeder protection, interlocking and logic diagrams., • Calculate relay settings and carry out protection coordination and fault studies., • Configure relay logic files and programme protection relays (ALSTOM, Schneider, Siemens SIPROTEC/DIGSI etc.)., • Act as technical authority during FAT, commissioning and construction phases., • Mentor and support a team of Protection Engineers., • Allocate team resources and manage team workload effectively across projects., • Review design outputs to ensure compliance and quality standards. Required Qualifications & Experience: • Degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems, or a related discipline., • Minimum 8 years' experience in delivering Protection and Control systems within the HV (11kV-400kV) sector., • Strong knowledge of protection principles, relay coordination and fault analysis., • Proven hands-on experience producing protection schemes and programming relays., • Experience working with DNOs and understanding their technical standards., • Chartered Engineer status or working toward chartership is preferred., • Supportive leadership style, working as part of the team and providing guidance without micromanaging. This role would suit a technically strong Senior or Principal Protection Engineer who is capable of leading a team, supporting engineers day-to-day, and remaining hands-on with complex protection design work.
