Venesky-Brown’s client, a public sector organisation in Aberdeen, is currently looking to recruit 2 x Quantity Surveying Officers for a 9 month contracts with possibility to extend on a rate of £154.00-£174.02/day (PAYE). Responsibilities: • Advise and guide Quantity Surveying staff., • Support on the job learning and development of junior colleagues, • Provide professional quantity surveying and technical advice for other members of the design team and clients., • Prepare or assist with the preparation of technical evaluations., • Provide cost estimates, • Provision of post-contract quantity surveying services including monitoring of spend against budgets., • Provide information in the required timescales and format for internal clients such as the Asset Team, Public Sector Housing and Property Factor., • Compile costs and other relevant information to include in Business Cases and reports to senior management., • Regular updating of project records on internal and public IT systems such as the project monitor, Amelior contract register, capital board tracker, etc., • Implement alternative methods of building contract procurement, • Prepare Bills of Quantities, Description of Works and Schedules of Rates using computerised systems., • Manage the tender process and preparation of contract documentation., • Analyse tender offers in accordance with the Stranding Orders and good practice. Issue relevant information from preferred tenderer to other members of the design team for comment., • Prepare reports on tender offers and assist in the compilation of reports, • Engage with colleagues to resolve any issues, and keep management updated on the progress of projects., • Compliance with health and safety legislation, council policies and procedures., • Comply with the requirements of the Construction (Design and Management) [CDM] Regulations 2015 and other Health and Safety legislation., • Comply with all relevant procurement policies and all public procurement regulations. Essential Skills: • HNC or equivalent in appropriate technical discipline., • Working within a multi professional design team environment., • Monitoring budgets and undertaking cost forecasts, • Managing projects and programmes effectively on time and on budget, • Contractor management, • Consultant management, • Using oral and written methods effectively for the communication of information to professionals and the public, • Identifying, organising and using resources effectively to complete tasks, • Ability to apply existing rules, procedures and precedent to solve problems, • Management of quality processes, • Coaching and supporting others, • Working on own initiative and as part of a team, • Competently using computer systems and programmes., • Good all-round knowledge of quantity surveying duties., • The duties required by the other members of the design team., • Various methods of contract procurement and related procedures, • Most commonly employed forms of building contracts, • Producing estimates and checking valuations, • Works procurement, • Computerised billing systems, • Taking an active role in Continuous Professional Development (CPD)., • Health and Safety, • Travel as required in relation to the needs of the Service, • Work at alternative locations as required, • Ability to carry out visits to construction sites, and carry out inspections and valuation of works Desirable Skills: • Ability to work reliably on own initiative with minimal supervision, with attention to detail., • Working remotely and with colleagues in the office., • CSCS card., • SMSTS., • MRICS., • Project management skills.
