Applications are invited for the 6‑month fixed‑term post at Cherrywood Outpatient Unit and Aspen/Oak inpatient unit, Pennine Care NHS Foundation Trust, Greater Manchester; starting as soon as possible. This post would ideally suit those who have previous experience in Psychiatry, or those without but who want to try out Psychiatry prior to CT1/ST application. The Trust will help appointees with their application for Speciality Training. The Education Programmes are mandatory throughout the Trust. This post offers an excellent introduction to Psychiatry. \n The Consultant body has a variety of special interests and offers many opportunities for trainees to explore and expand knowledge and experience through discussion with consultants. Areas of special interest include forensic and rehabilitation, liaison, community Psychiatry, child & adolescent Psychiatry including inpatient CAMHS services (regional), new ways of working, information technology and service redesign. For those considering application, a visit to one of the departments is encouraged. \n The pay band will be £32,389 to £49,923 depending on level of experience. Main Duties of the Job\n \n • The bulk of clinical work will be within a Consultant-led team based at your designated hospital site, including joint assessments with the Community Mental Health Team and the Crisis Resolution Team where appropriate. Assessments may take place at the patient’s home address or in hospital departments such as A&E.\n, • On-call cover includes adult in-patient wards, the Young Person’s Unit (16–17 year olds) if appropriate, older age wards (>65 years), and specialty units (rehabilitation units, etc.), as well as working with the Crisis Team in A&E. All these duties are within the main hospital site.\n, • The LED post holder is expected to accumulate an out-patient load from new referrals, support known patients in out-patients, and pickup ongoing patient management through the community teams as appropriate.\n, • The LED is expected to contribute to the biopsychosocial model of care alongside the multi-disciplinary team. This includes history taking, mental state examination of all patients, and the physical examination of out-patients where appropriate. Treatments may be physical, pharmacological, psychological, and social as appropriate. Emphasis is placed on the recovery model, encouraging formulation of management plans accordingly.\n, • The on-call rota is a full shift 1:09, 1:11, 1:18 depending on borough. Key Requirements of the Person Specification\n \n • GMC full registration before taking up appointment.\n, • Preferable to have 6 months experience working in psychiatry in the UK or internationally.\n, • Capable of managing common medical conditions; able to manage acute medical and psychiatric emergencies; able to assess and manage risks.\n, • Proven ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team. Shared responsibility for the whole of the psychiatry directorate and its contractual commitments. Ability to work cooperatively with junior colleagues in psychiatry and medicine. Able and willing to take directions from consultant supervisors and commit to developing skills over a long period.\n Physical\n \n, • Good general health.
