Amey is a leading provider of full life‑cycle engineering, operations and decarbonisation solutions for transport infrastructure and complex facilities. We are looking for a Senior Structural Engineer to join our Consulting Bridges team in Cardiff. The role will primarily involve working on the South West Scheme Delivery Framework for National Highways, with opportunities to work on complex schemes across the UK. The work spans feasibility through to design and construction of viaducts, culverts, under and overbridges. You will be part of a team of around 25 engineers locally, supported by 350+ structures engineers across the UK. As a Senior Engineer you will lead highway structure schemes, mentor junior designers, and collaborate closely with National Highways and other disciplines. You will prepare and check deliverables and be responsible for technical and commercial outcomes. • Severn Suspension Bridge – £500M main cable augmentation feasibility study, • Severn Suspension Bridge – main cable assessment, management and mitigation, • Severn Suspension Bridge – hanger replacement study, • Avonmouth Bridge – 174 m main span box girder bridge assessment and investigation, • Prince of Wales Bridge – gantry assessment, • £3 M Banff Bridge scour protection design, • £20 M Lagan Pedestrian and Cycle Bridge, • £120 M Clyde Waterfront & Renfrew Riverside, • £80 M Advanced Manufacturing Innovation District Scotland, • Developed experience in Structures, typically gained in an Engineer role or equivalent., • Comprehensive knowledge of structural design processes and procedures., • Ability to produce or oversee technically sound engineering solutions and check deliverables to a reasonable standard., • Very good working knowledge of relevant software and analytical tools such as LUSAS or Autodesk Structural Bridge Design., • Strong commercial awareness., • Good understanding of Safety, Health & Welfare and risk assessment., • Substantial experience in hazard and risk management on projects., • Understanding of interface management with other disciplines., • Incorporated or chartered status with Engineers Ireland, ICE, IStructE or equivalent professional licence is desirable., • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in an appropriate subject or demonstrable equivalent further learning., • Exceptional personal development, training and progression plans., • Competitive salary and compensation., • 24 days annual leave plus bank holidays., • Flexible benefits scheme., • Access to a savings programme with discounts from leading retailers., • Family‑friendly policies for new parents and caregivers.
