    Market Trader / Farm Van Driver - Weekends About us: At Brambletye Fruit Farm, we grow organic fruit and seasonal produce in the High Weald, focusing on quality, flavour, and sustainability. Our produce reflects the land it comes from, supporting local food networks while farming in harmony with nature. Role Overview We are seeking a reliable, proactive individual to support our team by driving our farm van, transporting produce to farmers’ markets, and running the market stall. This role primarily provides cover for regular team members, with the potential to develop into a regular weekend position by mutual agreement. At larger markets, the Market Trader may be supported by additional helpers. Location Based at the farm in Forest Row, with travel to farmers’ markets across London. Working Hours: • Saturdays and/or Sundays, depending on cover requirements, • Typical start time: 6:00–7:00 am, • Typical finish time: 4:00–5:30 pm, • Shifts are approximately 8–10 hours, including travel, setup, trading, and pack-down Compensation • £15.40 per hour, • Paid for time spent carrying out official market duties, • Unpaid breaks apply when away from the stall for personal activities Key Responsibilities • Safely drive a farm van to and from various London farmers’ markets, • Collect the pre-loaded van from the farm at the start of the day, • Set up and present the market stall in an attractive and organised manner, • Provide friendly, professional customer service and sell produce, • Supervise and direct helpers when present to ensure smooth operations, • Monitor workflow throughout the day to maintain efficiency and meet timelines, • Pack down the stall and return unsold produce and equipment to the farm, • Keep the van and stall clean, safe, and well organised, • Follow all road safety, food hygiene, and operational procedures, • Report any issues, stock shortages, or concerns to the Farmer or management Requirements • Minimum age: 25 years, • Full, clean driving licence, • Experience driving vans or larger vehicles preferred, • Strong customer service and communication skills, • Physically fit and able to lift/carry produce and equipment, • Reliable, punctual, and flexible for weekend cover (including short notice), • Basic numeracy skills for handling sales and cash, • Awareness of food hygiene and health & safety practices Desirable Skills • Previous experience in market trading or retail, • Knowledge of fresh produce or farming operations Additional Information Start and finish times may vary depending on market location, traffic, and seasonal demand. Any additional authorised hours will be paid at the agreed rate.
