Job Title: School CaretakerLocation: Bromley, Southeast LondonStart Date: ASAPSalary: £16 £18 per hour (depending on experience)Contract: Full-time, Temporary/PermanentWorking Hours: 8:00am 16:00pmCompany: Complete Classroom ServicesAbout the RoleComplete Classroom Services is seeking a motivated and conscientious School Caretaker to support the daily operation of a busy school in Bromley. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys a varied workload and takes pride in creating a safe, welcoming, and well-maintained environment for students, staff, and visitors.The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting with site maintenance, security procedures, health and safety checks, and the general presentation of the school premises.Key ResponsibilitiesCarry out daily site walks to identify maintenance issues and ensure the school remains safe and operationalUndertake minor repairs, decorating tasks, and basic maintenance work across the school siteInspect doors, windows, gates, fencing, and other site security features, reporting defects where necessaryAssist with monitoring heating, ventilation, and water systems to ensure facilities are functioning effectivelySupport the management of contractor visits and ensure works are completed safely and efficientlyMaintain external areas including playgrounds, sports areas, pathways, and landscaped spacesEnsure school equipment, furniture, and fixtures are kept in good working orderAssist with room moves, furniture relocations, and classroom reconfigurations when requiredCarry out routine checks on emergency lighting, fire exits, and other safety-related equipmentHelp coordinate seasonal site duties, including leaf clearance, gritting pathways, and weather-related site preparationsMaintain maintenance logs and report completed works to the school leadership teamRespond promptly to site requests from staff and assist in resolving day-to-day facilities issuesThe Ideal Candidate Will HavePrevious experience in a caretaker, site assistant, maintenance operative, or facilities support roleGood practical knowledge of general building maintenance and repairsAbility to identify and resolve maintenance issues efficientlyUnderstanding of workplace health and safety practicesStrong communication and teamwork skillsAbility to manage workload effectively and work independently when requiredReliable, flexible, and proactive approach to workBasic IT skills for communication and record-keepingDesirable Qualifications and ExperiencePrevious experience working within a school, academy, or educational environmentHealth and Safety qualification such as IOSH Working Safely or equivalentExperience carrying out basic trade tasks including carpentry, plumbing, or decoratingKnowledge of safeguarding procedures within schoolsExperience supporting building compliance and site inspectionsIn Return, We OfferA supportive and professional working environmentOpportunities to work within well-established schools across Bromley and Southeast LondonOngoing training and development opportunitiesCompetitive rates of payTemporary-to-permanent and permanent opportunities availableDedicated support from the Complete Classroom Services teamTPBN1_UKTJ
