The Role The Programme Director is a senior leadership appointment with responsibility for shaping and delivering the organisation’s programme strategy. Working in tandem with the Business Director, the role combines strategic direction, sector engagement, and operational oversight. The postholder will lead the evolution of the organisation’s training and events portfolio, ensuring relevance, quality, and long-term impact within a rapidly changing industry landscape. This is a role for an individual who can operate credibly at senior levels across the construction sector while translating strategic ambition into effective, high-quality delivery. Key Responsibilities Strategic Leadership • Define and implement the organisation’s programme and content strategy, • Identify emerging sector needs and position the organisation accordingly, • Oversee the design and delivery of training, events, and qualifications, • Ensure consistently high standards across all outputs, • Act as a senior ambassador for the organisation, • Build and maintain relationships with industry leaders, partners, and stakeholders, • Develop and manage a high-calibre network of expert trainers and contributors, • Foster collaboration across the sector to enhance programme quality and relevance Candidate Profile The successful candidate will bring a combination of sector credibility, strategic capability, and delivery expertise. Essential Experience & Expertise • Significant professional experience within the construction or built environment sector, • Strong technical understanding of sustainable construction principles and practice, • Proven track record of leading programmes, initiatives, or complex projects, • Demonstrated ability to operate strategically while maintaining operational oversight, • Recognised expertise or thought leadership in sustainable construction, • Established professional network within the built environment sector, • Experience in education, training, or knowledge dissemination, • Commercial awareness, including programme development and growth, • Experience securing funding or developing partnerships Opportunity This appointment offers the opportunity to play a defining role in shaping how sustainability knowledge is developed and shared across the construction sector.
