SEN Teaching Assistant Location: DarlingtonStart Date: ASAPContract: Long-term temporaryHours: Full-timeDBS: Enhanced Child & Adult Workforce DBS required Veritas Education are working with a fantastic specialist all-through school in Darlingon that supports pupils aged 5-19 with Autism (ASC) and Social, Emotional & Mental Health (SEMH) needs. The school provides a highly nurturing, structured learning environment and is seeking a committed SEN Teaching Assistant to join their team as soon as possible. The Role As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will: • Support pupils with Autism and SEMH needs across primary and secondary phases, • Provide 1:1 and small-group support to help pupils access learning, • Use de-escalation strategies and promote positive behaviour, • Work collaboratively with teaching staff, pastoral teams and therapists, • Help create a safe, positive and inclusive environment, • Previous experience supporting children or young people with SEN (Autism, SEMH, complex needs or challenging behaviour), • A calm, resilient and empathetic approach, • Strong communication and relationship-building skills, • The ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team, • Supportive leadership team and access to specialist training, • A welcoming environment focused on pupil wellbeing and development If you're passionate about helping young people with additional needs and are available to start immediately, we'd love to hear from you.
