Student Engagement Officer £24,484 £25,674 Do you have experience working with young people and a passion for helping them succeed? Oldham College is looking for a Student Engagement Officer to join our Student Services team. This role is all about building relationships, supporting behaviour, and ensuring every student feels safe, supported, and able to thrive during their time at college. What youll be doing: Engaging with students around college to build positive relationships and encourage participation in college life. Supporting behaviour management by de-escalating challenging situations calmly and fairly. Identifying and responding to student needs, linking them with the right support services where needed. Helping to maintain a safe and welcoming campus through presence, ID checks, and safeguarding duties. Working as part of the Student Engagement team to promote inclusion, well-being, and positive conduct. Assisting with first aid and emergency procedures when required. About you: Were looking for someone who is: Experienced in working with young people (e.g. as a youth worker, teaching assistant, mentor, or in a pastoral support role). Confident in managing behaviour and de-escalating situations. Approachable, empathetic, and able to build rapport quickly. Knowledgeable about safeguarding and student welfare (training can be provided). A team player who thrives in a busy, people-focused environment. First Aid trained (or willing to complete training).
