Job Title: Family Paralegal (Private Family Law) Location: Greater Manchester (Office Based) Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience (DOE) The Opportunity: A well-established law firm based in Greater Manchester is seeking a Family Paralegal to join its busy and supportive Private Family Law department. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is looking to develop their career within family law while gaining hands-on experience working closely with experienced solicitors. The successful candidate will assist with a range of private family law matters, supporting fee earners throughout the lifecycle of cases and ensuring clients receive a high standard of care during what can often be sensitive and complex situations. Key Responsibilities Case Support • Assisting solicitors and fee earners with a variety of private family law matters, including divorce, child arrangements, financial matters, and related applications., • Supporting cases from initial instruction through to conclusion, ensuring files are progressed efficiently., • Preparing and drafting legal documents such as applications, witness statements, court forms, and correspondence. File Management • Opening and maintaining client files in line with firm procedures and regulatory requirements., • Ensuring case management systems are updated regularly with accurate information and documentation., • Organising and maintaining both electronic and physical files to ensure they are clear, compliant, and up to date. Client Communication • Acting as a point of contact for clients, providing updates and assisting with enquiries in a professional and sensitive manner., • Liaising with barristers, courts, experts, and third parties to progress matters., • Taking detailed client instructions and passing relevant information to solicitors. Court and Documentation Preparation • Assisting with the preparation of court bundles and ensuring documents are correctly organised and filed in accordance with court requirements., • Supporting fee earners in preparing for hearings, conferences, and client meetings., • Ensuring documents are submitted within required deadlines. Administrative Support • Managing diaries for solicitors, including scheduling client appointments, meetings, and court hearings., • Undertaking general administrative tasks such as filing, scanning, and document preparation., • Assisting the team to ensure the smooth running of the department. Candidate Requirements • Previous experience working in a family law or legal support role is desirable., • A strong interest in private family law and developing a career within this area., • Excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines., • Strong written and verbal communication skills., • High level of attention to detail and professionalism., • Ability to handle sensitive matters with discretion and empathy., • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and case management systems.
