Role: Litigation Paralegal Location: Sheffield, South Yorkshire Contract: Full time, permanent Salary: £25,000 - £25,000 As a Litigation Paralegal within this established in-house legal team, you will play a vital role in managing legal recovery claims relating to commercial property and infrastructure damage. Working within a structured, high-volume environment, your duties will include: • Monitoring Incoming Claims: Regularly review and assess new damage claims submitted by external stakeholders, contractors, or third parties, ensuring accuracy and completeness of information., • Case Management: Handle a personal caseload of legal recovery files from initial instruction through to final resolution. Use internal systems to track progress, maintain documentation, and ensure compliance with service level agreements., • Claim Evaluation & Qualification: Conduct early-stage analysis of claims to determine liability, legal merit, and potential recovery value. Ensure cases meet the required thresholds for progressing to litigation where necessary., • Negotiation & Settlement: Engage with third parties, insurers, and legal representatives to negotiate out-of-court settlements wherever possible, while protecting the organisation’s commercial interests., • Litigation Support: Where disputes cannot be resolved through negotiation, prepare case files for formal legal proceedings. This includes drafting pleadings, witness statements, and other relevant legal documents., • Evidence Gathering: Undertake detailed investigative work by analysing technical documents, reviewing planning maps and diagrams, and liaising with internal operational teams to gather essential case facts., • Client Liaison & Stakeholder Communication: Maintain regular contact with internal departments and external parties, including engineers, surveyors, contractors, and claims specialists, to ensure consistent information flow throughout the claims process., • Compliance & Risk Awareness: Ensure that all casework is conducted in line with relevant legislation, regulatory standards, and internal policy. Proactively flag potential legal risks or anomalies to supervising solicitors., • Use of Case Management Systems: Utilise specialist case management software to manage documentation, record actions, and produce reports. Contribute to data accuracy and overall operational efficiency.
