Adult Social Care Lawyer • Hourly Rate: £65, • Location: Sheffield, • Job Type: Hybrid, Temporary We are seeking an experienced Adult Social Care Lawyer (Solicitor, Barrister, or Legal Executive) with Local Authority experience to join our busy team. This role involves a mixed caseload of adult social care work, including Court of Protection, mental health, and financial matters. Day-to-day of the role: • Provide advice, guidance, and representation to the relevant client department on all Adult Care Law matters and related issues., • Responsible for the provision of legal services in areas including Adult Care and related matters., • Undertake a personal caseload of Adult Care Law matters from inception through to conclusion, including taking the client’s instructions, advising the client throughout the case, advocacy, and reporting fully to the client on the outcome., • Represent the Council in court at inquiries, inquests, and tribunals, including full preparation and the provision of advocacy in all relevant courts., • Assess and advise on evidential matters and seek to prevent matters from going to court where litigation would not be in the Council’s best interests., • Attend meetings of the Council’s Boards and Panels, possibly representing the Head of Legal/Assistant Director of Legal Services, and act as Legal Adviser to the meeting., • Participate in the provision of training for Members and Officers on relevant legal matters., • Develop and foster effective relationships with external stakeholders and partners, and engage in multi-agency working where appropriate., • Deputise for the Senior Solicitor in the Adult Care Law Team as required., • Comply at all times with the professional conduct requirements set by the Solicitors Regulatory Authority/Bar Council/Chartered Institute of Legal Executives. Required Skills & Qualifications: • At least 3 years PQE in the area of Adult Care Law, preferably with experience of working within Local Government., • Experience of holding an Adult Care Law caseload and carrying out advocacy at a range of hearings., • Effective communication skills to provide advice and assistance to Adult Services on all Adult Care related matters, including policy and legislative changes., • Ability to advise Members and Officers at all levels on all relevant matters as and when required in writing, by telephone, and in meetings., • NQF Level 7 qualification e.g., Post Graduate Certificates and Diplomas with a valid Practising Certificate.
