Cost Lawyer (0–6 Years PQE) Location: Bolton or Birmingham (Hybrid – minimum 1 day per week in office) Salary: Competitive and dependent on experience An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Cost Lawyer (0–6 years PQE) to join a highly regarded and rapidly growing national law firm with significant private equity backing. The firm operates one of the largest dedicated Costs teams in the UK, with close to 100 specialists nationwide. Handling approximately 130,000 claims annually, the team deals with a broad and varied caseload ranging from straightforward, process-driven matters to heavyweight and technically complex disputes. This role offers exposure to high-volume, high-quality work within a well-resourced and forward-thinking environment. It would suit a Cost Lawyer at the early stages of qualification through to mid-level PQE who is looking to develop their technical expertise within a collaborative and commercially focused team. The Role • Managing a varied caseload of costs matters from instruction through to conclusion, • Handling both standard and complex costs issues, • Drafting bills of costs, points of dispute/reply and settlement negotiations, • Advocacy at detailed assessment hearings (where appropriate), • Working closely with colleagues across multiple practice areas About You • Qualified Solicitor / Cost Lawyer with 0–6 years PQE, • Experience in costs litigation (defendant experience advantageous but not essential), • Strong drafting and negotiation skills, • Commercially aware with excellent attention to detail, • Comfortable working within a high-volume, fast-paced environment Working Arrangements • Hybrid working model, • Minimum one day per week in the office, • Office base available in either Bolton or Birmingham Benefits Package • 25 days’ annual leave (increasing with service) plus option to buy/sell up to 3 days, • Private Medical Insurance (Bupa) – single cover with option to upgrade to family cover, • 24/7 Online GP and wellbeing support platform (including mental health, financial and legal wellbeing), • Pension (5% employee / 3% employer contribution) This is an excellent opportunity to join a market-leading Costs team within a stable, well-invested and ambitious organisation offering genuine long-term progression.
