    £16–£17 hourly
    Full-time
    London

Job Description: Would you like to be part of a nice team of professionals around a disabled young man. We are hiring for a Support worker to cover both Waking night shifts and day shifts to support a 19 year young person who has epilepsy, PMLD, is non verbal, has a movement disorder and additional health needs. He lives at home with his family and dog. We will need to find someone to take on 2 regular waking nights and 2 day shifts per week. The nights are strictly waking nights to keep him safe and take care of all health needs and alert the parents in case of a seizure or if there is any other emergency. Each waking night shift is 13 hours long. 20.00 -09.00. We feel consecutive nights work best. We need to cover either Thursday & Friday or Sunday & Monday. Let us know in your application which nights work best for you and if you are interested in covering only the 2 waking nights (26 hours per week) or would also be happy to take on day shifts (day shifts are mostly 8 hours long. We would not consider someone to take on only day shifts. This position works for someone who has a strong interest in working with disabled and autistic people. We hope to find someone who has worked with special needs people before and / or is studying a related field. We would ideally hope to find someone who is flexible to occasionally take on extra shifts and who has some availability during weekends and the Christmas period. The pay rate is £16 during training (£206 during training and probation) this increases to £17 per hour (£221 per night after probation). Bank holidays are paid at double rate. 6 months probation. The minimum hours per week are 26 hours (if part time), Fulltime the minimum amount of hours will be 37.5 hours per week. There is always the possibility for more hours. The team is fair with each other to also cover some weekends and holidays like Christmas and of course they cover for each others holidays and if someone is ill. We would prefer someone to work with a UTR number on a self-employed basis but if you needed a PAYE then this could be provided through a care agency we work with. Please let us know in your own words - why you are interested or what experience you have - this helps us to understand if we can work together (please write in your own words and no AI :) . Importantly we need to find someone who can also support during some of the Christmas period and Easter. You would need to be quite fit and strong and ideally not be too petite either as you would be working with a still growing young man with a movement disorder. Please let us know in your application if you are interested to cover only nights or also day shifts. Most training during the first few weeks will be during the days and only after a few weeks be waking night training. Please before you apply read the full ad. Thank you. About the young person He is a very friendly and active profoundly autistic young man / teenager who is non verbal. He can walk short distances but only with a lot of support, otherwise he is in a wheelchair. His communication is mainly through pictures of reference and he is taught life skills with ABA principles. We will train you in behaviour therapy (ABA) and would expect you to follow our training. There are regular team meetings and you would attend those meetings too. He sometimes is also tired and unwell after a seizure or other illness and will then just need care and nurturing and patience. Sometimes he has to be in hospital and a member of his team would be there with him - so waking nights could also be at hospital. As he has a movement disorder he needs a lot of physical support. He lives with his family and also a dog. About you You would need to be able to appreciate a person who has profound autism and treat him with dignity and kindness. You would be someone who has interest in special needs, psychology and perhaps nursing. You would perhaps have studied a related field or are planning to study a related field. This position is very different from working in a care home and would be far more active even during waking nights. You would be assisting him with everyday skills as well as bathing, toileting and sometimes assisting with a late dinner. If you have experience with intermittent catheterisation, Peristeen system as well as PEG feeding then that is an advantage but we can easily also train those skills too. (Please research all terms you are unsure about before you apply). When working a waking overnight shift you will need to make sure that he is safe and alert parents in case of a seizure. Before and after a waking night you need to be able to rest. We would not consider someone who has a second job. This position also involves keeping his environment generally tidy and clean and help with his laundry. You should be responsible, cheerful, honest and very reliable, physically strong and healthy as he needs a lot of support. You would need to be flexible and sometime cover for other people in the team if they are away on holidays or ill. You should • Be able to commit for minimum a year., • Invoice at the end of every month, • Able to work legally in the UK, • Only non smokers and non vapers apply., • Only people who are dog friendly apply., • Be able to speak and write in English., • Be strong and fit, • Be based in London - ideally north London., • Apply with a cover letter (that explains your interest in this particular position and let us know your experience),, • send a recent CV with dates of education and work experience,, • lateron we need your enhanced DBS and relevant references Please be aware that we can not offer sponsorship. 👟 Flexible Shoe Cleaning Assistant – £2 Per Pair | Side Hustle Hi! I’m Hana, I’m 21 and have been running my pre-owned shoe business for around 6 years alongside university. As I’m returning to university soon and go through a lot of shoes, I’m looking for a reliable local person to help clean batches of shoes when needed. 🧽 The Job You’ll collect batches of shoes from my home, take them home to clean, and return them once finished. I provide the cleaning supplies and will show you exactly how I clean the shoes and the standard I expect, so no previous experience is needed. The shoes need to be properly and thoroughly cleaned — not just given a quick wipe. Some pairs will be relatively easy, while others will be dirtier and require more scrubbing, patience and time. I understand that some stains, discolouration and signs of wear simply cannot be removed. I don’t expect perfection or for excessive time to be spent trying to remove permanent marks. However, I do expect a genuine effort and good-quality clean on every pair, while taking care not to damage different materials. If a pair has clearly not been cleaned to the standard I’ve demonstrated, I will ask for it to be cleaned again before payment for that pair. 💷 Pay & Workload £2 per pair – fixed rate. For example: 10 pairs = £20 20 pairs = £40 30 pairs = £60 50 pairs = £100 The amount of work will vary. One batch could be 10 pairs, another 30 or 50+, and some weeks I may not have any shoes that need cleaning. Please treat this as a flexible side hustle rather than guaranteed regular employment. I will contact you whenever I have a batch ready. Please do not rely on a certain number of pairs or regularly pressure me for the next batch — I will message you when I need your help. 🚗 Collection & Return You will need to collect the shoes from my home and return them once cleaned, so please consider the travelling involved before applying. Having access to a car would be ideal. Shoes must also be returned by the agreed time. I will count each batch before collection and when it is returned. ⭐ What I Expect • Reliable, trustworthy and good communication, • Good attention to detail and willingness to follow instructions, • Quality and care rather than rushing, • Cleaning products used sensibly without unnecessary waste, • Shoes collected and returned as agreed, • Every pair given a genuine, thorough clean Everyone will begin with a small paid trial batch so we can both see whether the arrangement works well. I’m hiring someone to save me time while I’m at university, so I’m looking for someone who can work independently and consistently without creating extra work for me. If you’re happy with the £2-per-pair rate, variable workload, travelling to collect/return the shoes, and the cleaning standard expected, I’d love to hear from you. 😊 Thank you!

    £25000–£32000 yearly
    Full-time
    Fenchurch, City of London

Why this job exists Italy gave the world its most loved cuisine and has never built a global fast food brand out of it. Every other big category has a winner. The Italian seat is empty. We are going after it. al volo is one shop in the City of London, cooking the full Italian table from scratch every morning: a hot main, two sides, focaccia to finish. That is the Nonna's Box. We are 4.9 stars on Google and 4.9 on Deliveroo, and we have never spent a penny on advertising to get there. The food did that. We need someone to run the shop properly, so we can get on with building the rest of it. The honest version We are small. Two founders, one site, a kitchen and a counter. Ale runs the food. Elena runs the brand and the commercial side. There is no head office, no HR department, and nobody else to hand a problem to. This seat has just come free. Rather than look for someone to fill the same shoes, we sat down and worked out what the business actually needs. This is that job, and it is a bigger one. Some days here are messy. Things change. You will get real responsibility far faster than you would anywhere else, and nobody is going to hold your hand through it. That is the deal. We think it is a good one. What you will own The opening. You are first in. You unlock, you set up, you get the machines on and the counter ready before the first customer walks in at 7. The kitchen team join you around 8. The morning is yours. Breakfast. We are launching a proper Italian breakfast in September: pick your base, pick your toppings, low prep, fast. You will set it up, run it, watch what sells and tell us what to change. It is a brand new revenue line and you are the one building it. The coffee. You are on the machine through the morning. Italian espresso standards, at speed, with a smile for the regulars. The lunch rush. From 11:30 you lead the floor: counter flow, queue moving, display full and looking right, Deliveroo out on time, everyone in the right place. The shop. Rotas, stock, standards, compliance. Temperature logs, cleaning records, allergens, food safety. Not glamorous. Completely non-negotiable. Yours. Real budgets. Coffee and bar, packaging, waste, and in time your own front-of-house hours. We will teach you how all of it works. Then we will expect you to have opinions about it. The shop when we are not in it. Decisions get made. Problems get solved. Nothing sits waiting for a founder to come back. Your first 90 days Month one. Learn the shop properly: behind the counter, on the machine, on the floor. Get to know the team and the regulars. Set the baselines on the numbers you are about to own. Month two. Launch breakfast with us. Take the bar, packaging and consumables budgets. Month three. Take the front-of-house rota and the labour budget. Tell us the three things you want to change, and start changing them. Who we are looking for You have run a site, a floor or a shift somewhere busy, and you were good at it. You know your way around an espresso machine, properly. You are organised in a way other people can see. But mostly: you are the person who spots the thing that is wrong and fixes it before anyone asks. Who has ideas and says them out loud. Who wants to build something rather than just work somewhere. This job is not for you if: You want a job that stops the second the clock says so You need a manual, a policy and a manager to check it "That is not my job" is a sentence you have used recently You would rather be comfortable than be part of something It is for you if you want to look at something in three years and know you helped build it. You will need: Experience leading a team in hospitality, retail or food service Real barista skills. We are serious about coffee. Food safety knowledge and the discipline to keep records properly The right to work in the UK To be comfortable with numbers, rotas and a spreadsheet What you get £30,000 a year, salaried, plus a discretionary bonus Monday to Friday. We are closed at weekends. That said, we are a young business, and now and then something will need doing that does not fit neatly inside a week. We are looking for someone who is there when it counts. 28 days holiday including bank holidays Lunch on us every day, and all the coffee you can drink Level 3 Food Safety and First Aid, funded by us if you do not already have them Room to grow as we do. The ambition is a second site, and then more after that. We would far rather grow the people already here than hire over them. Run this shop well and you will be in the room for whatever comes next, whether that turns out to be the next site or the office side of the business. Thanks Alessandro & Elena Founders, al volo
