This hands-on opportunity suits an experienced vehicle maintenance professional with a relevant vocational qualification, Category B licence and MOT testing capability or eligibility for training.This role is officially recognised as a Light Vehicle Motor Mechanic and MOT TesterIf you've also worked in the following roles, we'd also like to hear from you: Light Vehicle Technician, Automotive Technician, Vehicle Mechanic, Motor Mechanic, Car Mechanic, Fleet Technician, Workshop Technician, Automotive MechanicPlease note: Holding certification for MOT testing in Class 4, and 7 is essential and an expectation for this role.However, consideration will be given to suitability qualified and experienced candidates who are eligible to undergo MOT training to become a tester.SALARY: £30,700 - £32,737 per annum + £5,000 market supplement (payable in 12 monthly increments) + BenefitsLOCATION: Ambergate, Belper, DerbyshireJOB TYPE: Full-Time, PermanentWORKING HOURS: 37 hours per week, Monday to Thursday 9.00am – 5.00pm and Friday 9.00am – 4.30pmJOB OVERVIEWBuild on your technical expertise in a supportive workshop with modern diagnostic equipment and a strong focus on quality.The Vehicle Technician / MOT Tester maintains and repairs cars, minibuses, light vehicles, trailers and engineering plant to manufacturer and DVSA standards.As the Vehicle Technician / MOT Tester you will support diagnostics, inspections and specialist systems.Working with colleagues, customers, suppliers and enforcement agencies, the Vehicle Technician / MOT Tester manages workload, records work accurately and contributes to safe, effective fleet services. Occasional roadside or customer-depot attendance may be required.DUTIESYour duties as the Vehicle Technician / MOT Tester include:Vehicle Maintenance and Repair: Inspect, maintain and repair a varied fleet and associated fitted equipment to manufacturer and DVSA specificationsMOT Testing: Carry out MOT testing of Class IV, V and VII motor vehicles where authorisedDiagnostics and Fault Finding: Diagnose and repair CAN bus, electrical, hydraulic and other vehicle faults using diagnostic equipmentSpecialist Systems: Inspect, repair and test air conditioning, Webasto and Eberspacher heating systems, zero and low-emission electric vehicles, and passenger and goods lifts where qualifiedFabrication and Welding: Complete fabrication and welding repairs as requiredReports and Records: Produce condition and disposal reports and accurately complete worksheets, maintenance records and Fleet Management System entriesWorkload and Compliance: Organise workload, meet agreed timescales and follow health and safety, equality, safeguarding, data protection and risk management requirementsDevelopment and Training: Complete statutory and product training and maintain professional developmentCANDIDATE REQUIREMENTSESSENTIALPrevious motor vehicle industry experience and knowledge of vehicle and plant maintenance and repair processes, procedures and specialist equipmentExperience of alternatively fuelled vehicles and vehicle conversion and commissioningStrong diagnostic, analytical and problem-solving skills, including use and interpretation of vehicle diagnostic equipmentAbility to manage and prioritise workload, follow procedures and maintain accurate recordsKnowledge of MOT preparation requirements, Road Traffic Act, Construction and Use Regulations and operator licence requirementsConfident IT, communication and interpersonal skills, with workplace health and safety knowledgeCity & Guilds Level 2, NVQ Level 2 (or equivalent), or relevant vocational qualification in engineering or light vehicle maintenance and repairDVSA Nominated MOT Tester Classes 4, 5 and 7, or eligibility and willingness to undergo the required training within the first 6 months of startingLevel 3 qualification in electric vehicle maintenance, or willingness to undergo the required training within the first 6 months of startingCategory B driving licenceRight to work in the UK without visa sponsorshipAbility to pass police NPPV2 security vetting and regular health screeningDESIRABLEUnderstanding of BS EN ISO 9001 Quality Award Scheme and BS EN ISO 14001Environmental Management System principlesHGV maintenance and repair qualification or experienceD1 driving licenceC driving licenceQualification in inspection of lifting equipment to LOLER regulationsBENEFITS25 days' annual leave, plus another 5 days with 5 years' continuous service, plus 8 bank holidaysLocal Government Pension SchemeOccupational sick pay scheme – up to 6 months' full pay and 6 months' half pay after 5 years' serviceOngoing training and continuing professional development opportunitiesRegular annual pay incrementsWellbeing package including physiotherapy, counselling and occupational healthDiscount on leisure centre membershipsPersonal toolkit, PPE and workwearDue to the nature of the work undertaken, the successful candidate will be required to undertake and pass a police security NPPV2 vetting check.APPLY TODAY…By submitting your job application to us you are hereby giving us your express consent to submit your details to our Client for this purpose.JOB REF: AWDO-P15208Full-Time, Permanent Jobs, Careers and Vacancies.
