Head of Engineering – Precision Engineering (Nuclear, Defence, Aerospace and Energy)\n\nLocation: Nottingham\n\nSalary: £65,000 - £70,000 (Dependant on experience)\n\nEMBS Engineering has been instructed on an exclusive basis to appoint a critical hire for a highly respected, precision engineering business specialising in build-to-print solutions for demanding sectors including Nuclear, Aerospace, Defence, and Energy. Known for technical excellence, quality, and long-term customer partnerships, our client is looking to expand and hit new record heights. As such, we are now seeking a Head of Engineering.\n\nThe Role:\nAs the primary engineering authority, you will lead a multi-disciplinary team across NPI, process engineering, and tooling. You’ll be responsible for bridging the gap between customer specifications and operational execution, ensuring our build-to-print environment remains lean, efficient, and technologically advanced.\n\nWhat's in it for you?\n\n * \n\n £65.000 – £70,000 basic salary (dependent on experience)\n\n * \n\n Stability & Longevity - Permanent position\n\n * \n\n Hours: 39 per week - early finish on Fridays\n\n * \n\n Company bonus scheme\n\n * \n\n 25 days holiday\n\n * \n\n My EAP\n\n * \n\n Healthshield care plan\n\n * \n\n Sick pay + much more\n\n * \n\n Benefits: Pension, holiday entitlement, healthcare, appraisals and much more\n\nKey Responsibilities:\n\n * \n\n Define the engineering roadmap, foster a culture of accountability, and develop a high-performing technical team.\n\n * \n\n Act as the lead authority for interpreting customer drawings, BOMs, and specifications; manage engineering changes and manufacturability reviews.\n\n * \n\n Oversee process flows, tooling concepts, and work instructions for machining and fabrication, ensuring cost-effective and compliant production.\n\n * \n\n Drive New Product Introduction, from risk assessment (DFM/PFMEA) through to successful FAI/PPAP.\n\n * \n\n Partner with Quality to lead root-cause analysis and champion initiatives to reduce scrap, cycle times, and process variability.\n\nAbout You:\n\nHaving previously led engineering functions, you’ll have familiarity and be competent to showcase the following:\n\n * \n\n Right-First-Time NPI: Seamless program launches that meet cost and timeline targets.\n\n * \n\n Operational Impact: Direct improvements in yield, quality, and manufacturability through lean principles.\n\n * \n\n Technical Partnership: Strong, trust-based relationships with customers and internal senior leadership.\n\n * \n\n Compliance: Maintaining gold-standard engineering documentation (ISO9001, AS9100).\n\nWhy join?\nYou’ll be joining a forward-thinking precision engineering business with strong values, a collaborative culture, and a clear commitment to long-term customer success.
