    About the Role The Head Maître d’ owns NORTE’s reservation book and leads the guest experience from the first request for a table through the end of the visit. This role combines commercial judgment, precise dining room management, and highly personal hospitality. Working closely with the General Manager, the Head Maître d’ builds demand, develops regular guests, and ensures the room feels exceptional every night. In preparation for our upcoming opening, this position requires participation in a mandatory training program. Qualifications • Prior experience as a Maître d’, Head Maître d’, or Reservations Manager at a high-demand New York City restaurant., • Direct, hands-on ownership of the reservation book, table inventory, waitlist, VIP relationships, and service pacing., • Strong command of Resy or OpenTable and restaurant table management., • Demonstrated ability to recognize guests, build regular clientele, and make effective decisions under pressure., • Excellent communication, organization, discretion, and sound business judgment., • Required: Fluent in English and Spanish, with the ability to communicate effectively in both languages, • Strong social intelligence, presence, and emotional awareness in high-profile guest-facing environments, • Proven ability to handle confidential and sensitive guest matters with professionalism, discretion, and sound judgment, • Warm, polished, and hospitality-driven demeanor, with a genuine passion for creating memorable guest experiences., • High level of professionalism, confidence, and poise in fast-paced, high-demand restaurant environments, • Preferred: Experience with a hospitality CRM such as Loyalist and established relationships within New York City’s restaurant community. Duties Greet guests warmly upon arrival, providing a positive first impression and guiding them to their seats Take accurate food and beverage orders using POS systems such as Aloha POS or Micros POS, ensuring clear communication with kitchen staff Serve food and drinks promptly while maintaining high standards of presentation and cleanliness Upsell menu items and specials to enhance guest experience and increase sales opportunities Handle cash transactions accurately, including cash handling and cashiering responsibilities, while balancing registers at shift end Maintain cleanliness of tables, dining areas, and service stations by bussing tables and assisting with sanitation practices Support food safety standards by following proper food handling procedures and adhering to sanitation regulations Skills Proven experience in food service or restaurant environments, preferably with fine dining or nightclub settings Strong knowledge of POS systems such as Aloha POS, Micros POS, and OpenTable for reservations and order management Excellent customer service skills with a friendly, energetic attitude that fosters guest relations Ability to manage time effectively during busy shifts, balancing multiple tables with efficiency Experience in upselling menu items to maximize sales while ensuring guest satisfaction Familiarity with food safety protocols, sanitation standards, and basic math for cash handling and order calculations Previous host/hostess or bussing experience is a plus; culinary or kitchen experience can be beneficial for understanding food preparation processes Embark on a rewarding journey where your enthusiasm fuels memorable dining experiences.
