Job Description JOB TITLE: Assistant Community School Director (21st Century CCLC) - Bronx FLSA: Non-Exempt DEPARTMENT: Youth Services REPORTS TO: Director of Youth Services LOCATION: Bronx, NY SALARY: $23.00 -$ 34.71 hourly SUMMARY: Community Schools are a strategy to organize resources and share leadership to integrate social services into the fabric of the schools. Community Schools are equipped to better serve the needs of families so that students come to school ready and able to learn. Community Schools offer a holistic approach toward improving academic performance driven by strong, collaborative partnerships among principals, parents, teachers and CBOs. In Community Schools, parents are real and active partners in their children’s education, the school climate is joyful and positive, expanded learning opportunities are standard. An integral part of this approach is the integration and alignment of school and community-based services throughout an expanded learning day (such as health, mental health, counseling and academic enrichment). The Assistant Community School director will support the Community School Director in ensuring the alignment and coordination of services. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: • Assist the Community School Director in coordinating the work of different partners within the school, and aligning the work of partners with the school faculty., • Work with the school leadership to maintain a focus on results and track progress., • Oversee the implementation of a Student Success Mentorship program by ensuring that all scheduled mentor meetings are documented and supporting success while identifying needs of chronically absent students, applying interventions, and tracking impact of interventions on a weekly basis., • Participate in weekly or quarterly Community Based Organization (CBO)/ Community School meetings that include diverse school community stakeholders., • Facilitate regular meetings with Expanded Learning Time (ELT) subcontractors to address in-school needs, teacher collaboration, and event planning., • Collect and monitor program implementation data and student data for all afterschool providers and partnerships., • Work with the Parent Coordinator to ensure that families have meaningful opportunities to participate in the school., • Assist with data collection, research and prepare relevant data to provide at meetings., • Assist with projects that support school benchmarks, including: attendance initiatives, academic support interventions, and family engagement., • Assist in the coordination of the allocation of space for student and family support services, and for special events., • Develop strong relationships with teachers, parents and students., • Other duties as assigned. EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor’s degree in Education, Social work or related field. Bilingual, fluent in Spanish preferred. Ability to work effectively with school aged youth, educators, families and communities from a wide range of cultural, social and economic backgrounds. Experience working in school based settings, with knowledge about tenants of community organizing, student support services, and youth development theories. Ability to work collaboratively, with strong relationship building skills. DOE fingerprinting and background clearances.
