Job Description Position Overview We're seeking an Director of Safety to establish and lead our corporate-wide safety program across all construction operations. This is a strategic, executive-level role reporting directly to senior leadership, responsible for creating a world-class safety culture across multiple data center construction sites. You'll build the safety program from scratch - your vision, your strategy, your culture. Bilingual Spanish/English strongly preferred to effectively communicate with our diverse workforce. Key Responsibilities Strategic Safety Leadership: • Develop and implement comprehensive corporate safety program for data center electrical construction, • Build safety infrastructure to support 900+ annual hires and rapid company growth, • Report directly to executive leadership on safety performance, initiatives, and risks, • Partner with Operations, Project Management, HR, and Finance on safety integration, • Transform safety culture from reactive to proactive across all operations Multi-Site Safety Oversight: • Oversee safety compliance across active construction sites, • Conduct site safety inspections and audits at data center projects, • Monitor electrical work practices (high-voltage, medium-voltage, low-voltage systems), • Ensure consistent safety standards across all project locations Electrical Safety Expertise: • Develop electrical safety programs for MV/LV distribution and controls, • Implement NFPA 70E arc flash safety protocols and energized electrical work procedures, • Establish lockout/tagout (LOTO) programs for electrical systems, • Create qualified electrical worker (QEW) programs and training, • Oversee substation work, switchgear installation, and high-voltage safety Regulatory Compliance: • Ensure compliance with OSHA 29 CFR 1926 (Construction) standards, • Maintain NFPA 70E compliance (electrical safety, arc flash), • Coordinate OSHA inspections and respond to citations, • Prepare for and manage safety audits, • Maintain relationships with OSHA, EPA, and regulatory agencies Program Development: • Design safety policies, procedures, and protocols, • Create behavior-based safety programs, • Develop KPIs, metrics, and reporting systems, • Build incident investigation and root cause analysis procedures, • Manage workers' compensation and return-to-work programs, • Coordinate with captive insurance groups on risk management and safety performance Training & Culture: • Design and deliver safety training curriculum (OSHA, NFPA 70E, electrical safety), • Conduct new hire safety orientation, • Train foremen and superintendents on safety leadership, • Drive "zero-incident" mindset and proactive hazard identification, • Communicate effectively with bilingual workforce (Spanish/English) Performance Management: • Track OSHA recordable incident rates, lost-time injuries, near-misses, • Reduce incident costs and insurance premiums, • Benchmark against industry standards, • Drive continuous safety improvement Required Qualifications Experience: • 10+ years safety leadership in construction or industrial environments (required), • 5+ years executive/director-level safety role (required), • Electrical construction or high-voltage environment experience (required), • Multi-site safety oversight experience, • Experience building safety programs from the ground up, • Demonstrated success reducing incident rates and transforming safety culture Education & Certifications: • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, Engineering, or related field (required), • OSHA 500 or 510 Certification (required), • Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or ASP (strongly preferred), • NFPA 70E Qualified Person (required), • OSHA 30-Hour Construction (required) Technical Expertise: • Deep knowledge of OSHA 29 CFR 1926 (Construction Safety), • Expertise in NFPA 70E (Electrical Safety, Arc Flash), • Understanding of data center and electrical construction, • High-voltage, medium-voltage, low-voltage electrical systems knowledge, • LOTO program development, • Incident investigation and root cause analysis, • Workers' compensation management Leadership: • Bilingual Spanish/English strongly preferred, • Executive presence and ability to influence senior leadership, • Proven ability to build and lead teams, • Change management and culture transformation experience, • Strategic thinking and business acumen Location: • Local to Vineland, NJ OR willing to relocate Preferred Qualifications • Master's degree in Occupational Safety & Health or related field, • Captive insurance group experience (risk management, safety performance reporting), • Bilingual Spanish/English, • Data center construction experience, • CHST certification, • Industrial hygiene or environmental health expertise, • Experience scaling safety programs during rapid growth, • Professional Engineer (PE) license What We Offer Executive Compensation: • Base Salary: $120,000 - $150,000/year, • Performance bonuses based on safety metrics, • Relocation assistance (if relocating to Vineland, NJ), • Company vehicle or vehicle allowance Benefits: • Health, dental, vision insurance (executive-level plans), • 401(k) with generous company match, • 4+ weeks PTO, • Life insurance and disability coverage, • Professional development budget, • Conference attendance Data One Construction is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
