Job Description & Requirements • Specialty: PCU - Progressive Care Unit, • Discipline: RN, • Start Date: ASAP, • Duration: 13 weeks, • 36 hours per week, • Shift: 12 hours, days, • Employment Type: Travel Required Cardiac Telemetry RN Stepdown/PCU 12 Days; 36/week, every other weekend, 13 weeks Required certs: BLS, ACLS, Required experience: 5 years RN experience, Experience in a cardiac tele department: experience with TAVR, watchmans, mitral clips, heart catheterizations, preop/post op open heart (when transferred out of CVICU), cardiac IV and PO, cardiac drips at a flat rate (cardizem, amiodarone, dobutamine, lidocaine, milrinone, heparin, insulin), anticoagulant, CHF, CP, arythmias, NSTEMI, STEMI, PE, post op CABG greater than 3 days, Sepsis, PNA, Stroke, observation patients, use TR band, groin management, and be familiar with complications Ensure skills checklists are completed accurately by workers Required Skills & Experience: -Nursing (RN) experience of six (6) months - three (3) years. -Management Experience of zero (0) - three (3) years. -Five plus (5) + years of direct experience. -Collaboration. -Communication (verbal & written). -Judgement/Critical Thinking. -Organizational Understanding H. -Planning (Organizing, Time Management). -Problem Solving. -Quality. -Reliability. -Safety and Risk Management. Preferred Skills & Experience: -Previous clinical nursing experience in an acute care or ambulatory setting. Required Education: -A graduate of an accredited school of Nursing. Preferred Education: -Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing. Required Certifications & Licensure: -Current NYS RN License. -BLS Certification (AHA, HSI, or American Red Cross). -Unit-specific requirements are listed in the Compliance Matrix - please validate prior to candidate submission. Preferred Certifications & Licensure: -Professional certification in a related nursing specialty. -Relevant skills certification (i.e., ACLS, PALS, TNCC) as required by home unit assigned. Job Summary: The Registered Nurse (RN) protects, promotes, and optimizes health and abilities, prevention of illness and injury, and the alleviation of suffering through the diagnosis and treatment of human response and through advocacy in the care of individuals and families. The RN is responsible and accountable for compliance to all standards of practice and professional development in accordance with the New York State Nurse Practice Act, United Health Services policies, ANA Scope and Standards of Practice, Code of Ethics for Nurses, and the Bill of Patient Rights. The RN promotes a caring and healing environment for patient-centered care. Job Responsibilities: -Assesses, plans, delegates, coordinates, implements and evaluates nursing care in managing a group of patients, serving as a primary nurse and/or accountable nurse, when designated by unit assignment and consideration of factors related to safety, effectiveness, competency, cost and impact. -Educates patient and family in health promotion and disease management using available resources. -Utilizes a working knowledge of pharmacology and safely administers medications according to United Health Services policy. -Shares in responsibility for productivity and effective resources utilization including staffing, time management, supplies and services. -Complies with all nursing practice standards, regulatory requirements, and United Health Services policies. -Actively participates in and supports the Nursing Shared Governance Model by supporting the Unit Council, participating in improvement initiatives, and contributing to peer review practices. -Actively engages in professional development, continuing nursing education, and completing all mandatory education requirements. -Integrates nursing research and current evidence into practice. -Provides a supportive learning environment for new employees and students. -Will follow all United Health Services Values. -Will perform other duties as assigned.
