Job Description Job Title: Welder Job Description This role offers an experienced Welder the opportunity to work on custom, engineered-to-order products, including first-of-kind prototypes for data centers and industrial applications. You will perform a variety of welding processes, fabricate pressure vessels and custom assemblies, and contribute to a high-quality, low-volume, high-variation production environment in a modern manufacturing facility. Responsibilities • Perform MIG, TIG, Pulse, and Flux Core welding on a variety of metals with a strong emphasis on quality and consistency., • Weld in accordance with applicable codes and standards, including ASME and AWS requirements., • Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and technical specifications to determine project requirements and welding sequences., • Select appropriate welding equipment, parameters, and techniques for each job based on materials and specifications., • Perform fabrication and fitting for pressure vessels, piping, and custom assemblies, including layout, cutting, and preparation., • Work primarily with carbon steel and occasionally with stainless steel, adjusting techniques as needed for different materials., • Conduct first article and random inspections of welds and assemblies to verify compliance with quality standards and specifications., • Use measuring instruments and bench tools to verify dimensions and tolerances during and after fabrication., • Review job specifications and project requirements at the start of each assignment to plan work efficiently., • Set up welding equipment, prepare workpieces, and select appropriate materials for assigned tasks., • Perform welding and fabrication on custom engineered parts in a low-volume, high-variation production environment., • Inspect welds visually and with appropriate tools to ensure compliance with ASME/AWS standards and internal quality requirements., • Adjust welding techniques, parameters, and setups as needed based on material thickness, joint configuration, and project needs., • Collaborate with team members and supervisors to meet production goals and project timelines., • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area, following all safety procedures and best practices., • Participate in cross-functional communication with engineering, quality, and production teams to resolve issues and improve processes., • Support continuous improvement initiatives related to quality, efficiency, and safety within the welding and fabrication area. Essential Skills • Minimum 3+ years of welding experience, including MIG, TIG, Pulse, and Flux Core processes., • Proven ability to read and interpret blueprints, mechanical drawings, and technical documents., • Hands-on experience working with carbon steel materials (required)., • Experience with stainless steel welding (preferred)., • Fabrication and fitting experience, particularly with pressure vessels and custom assemblies., • Proficiency with measuring instruments and bench tools, such as tape measures, calipers, and squares., • Strong attention to detail and commitment to high-quality workmanship., • Ability to perform pipe welding and pipe fitting/cutting as needed for custom projects., • Competence in production welding within a low-volume, high-variation environment., • High school diploma or equivalent. Additional Skills & Qualifications • Strong problem-solving abilities in low-volume, high-variation production settings., • Previous ASME certification and code welding experience., • Familiarity with ASME and AWS welding standards and inspection requirements., • Experience with inspection techniques and quality control processes for welded assemblies., • Good communication skills and ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams., • Background in metal fabrication, sheet metal work, and related manufacturing processes., • Comfort working on first-of-kind prototypes and engineered-to-order products., • Ability to work independently at a dedicated workstation while contributing to a team-oriented environment. Work is performed on custom, first-of-kind prototype systems for data centers and industrial applications, using a variety of welding processes and fabrication tools. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Lockport, NY. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $35.00/hr.
