Job Description ARCHBISHOP DAMIANO SCHOOL Position: Full-Time Occupational Therapist Schedule: 8:30 AM - 3:30 PM Location: Archbishop Damiano School, NJ Reports to: Assistant Principals/Executive Director About Us: Archbishop Damiano School is a dedicated school committed to providing quality education and support for students aged 3-21 with multiple disabilities. Overview: Archbishop Damiano School is seeking a dedicated and compassionate full-time Occupational Therapist (OT) to join our team. The OT will work with students who have mild to severe disabilities, aiming to improve their academic and functional skills through therapeutic activities. This position requires a professional who is passionate about making a difference in the lives of children with special needs and who can collaborate effectively with educators, families, and other specialists. Key Responsibilities: • Conduct comprehensive assessments of students' fine motor, sensory, and perceptual-motor skills., • Evaluate students’ needs and develop individualized treatment plans aligned with educational goals., • Provide direct occupational therapy services to students with a variety of developmental disabilities (e.g., autism, cerebral palsy, Down syndrome)., • Implement therapeutic activities and exercises to support school-related functional skills., • Utilize adaptive equipment and techniques to enhance student participation in educational activities., • Collaborate with teachers, parents, and multidisciplinary team members to develop and implement IEPs., • Provide training and resources to school staff and families on occupational therapy strategies., • Participate in IEP meetings and contribute to the development of student goals and objectives., • Maintain accurate and timely documentation of services and student progress., • Develop and implement evaluation tools and processes., • Respond appropriately to emergencies, interruptions, and safety/evacuation drills., • Stay current on occupational therapy practices and maintain professional competencies., • Participate in department meetings, in-service trainings, and contribute ideas for service improvement., • Adhere to school standards for safety, emergency procedures, attendance, and professional conduct., • Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications and Requirements: • A minimum of bachelor’s degree in occupational therapy from an accredited institution; master’s degree preferred., • Valid license from the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT)., • New Jersey Department of Education Certification as School Occupational Therapist., • Approved Criminal History Review from the NJ Department of Education, Office of Criminal History Review. CPR certification and first aid certification preferred., • One (1) year working in a school environment with students with disabilities preferred., • Strong understanding of pediatric occupational therapy principles and practices., • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills., • Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team., • Strong organizational and time-management skills., • Ability to learn new tasks quickly., • High level of discretion and confidentiality Compensation: Competitive compensation will be offered based on the candidate’s relevant experience and qualifications.
