Job Description CAD Production Drafter / Engineer – Custom Cabinetry & Millwork Location: Newark, NJ (Onsite) Salary: $80,000–$120,000 Schedule: • Monday–Thursday: 7:30 AM – 4:30 PM, • Friday: Winter – until 12:00 PM | Summer – until 1:00 PM Position Overview We are seeking a CAD Production Drafter / Engineer to support custom cabinetry and millwork production. This role is responsible for producing accurate technical drawings, 3D models, part breakdowns, and CNC-ready files that translate design intent into production-ready components. You will serve as a key technical link between design, engineering, and the production floor, working closely with project managers, CNC operators, and fabrication teams to ensure precision, feasibility, and efficiency throughout the production process. Key Responsibilities • Prepare detailed shop drawings, part lists, and technical documentation based on architectural plans, field measurements, and sketches, • Create and manage CNC-ready files, including DXF files, nested panel layouts, and toolpath-ready outputs, • Translate complex custom cabinetry and millwork designs into accurate, buildable components, • Collaborate with project managers, production leads, and CNC operators to ensure drawings align with manufacturing capabilities, • Specify cabinetry hardware and accessories using industry-standard systems, • Maintain and update drawing libraries, part libraries, and drafting standards, • Participate in design and production reviews and help resolve fabrication or technical issues, • Support continuous improvement and standardization of construction and production methods Qualifications • 2–5 years of experience in CAD drafting, millwork engineering, or production design, • Strong proficiency in 2D and 3D CAD software (AutoCAD or similar), • Ability to produce accurate, buildable shop drawings from architectural and conceptual inputs, • Solid understanding of cabinet construction methods, joinery, and custom woodworking techniques, • Familiarity with CNC manufacturing processes, including panel processing and nesting, • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, • Clear communication skills and ability to collaborate across departments Preferred (Not Required) • Experience with CAM software or CNC programming/nesting, • Ability to review architectural drawings, redlines, and markups, • Experience with high-end residential or commercial custom cabinetry projects, • Hands-on fabrication or installation experience Why This Role • Work on complex, high-quality custom cabinetry and millwork projects, • Collaborate closely with design, engineering, and production teams, • Stable, predictable schedule with early Fridays, • Opportunity to directly impact production quality and efficiency Final Invitation to Apply If you're a technically strong CAD professional who enjoys turning designs into precise, production-ready drawings and working closely with manufacturing teams, we'd love to hear from you.
