Job Description Role Overview As a CAD Production Drafter / Engineer, you will play a critical role in transforming custom cabinetry designs into precise, build-able, and machine-ready production files. This position serves as the technical bridge between the design team and the production floor, ensuring that complex custom projects move smoothly from concept to fabrication. You’ll collaborate closely with project managers, CNC operators, engineers, and cabinet makers to support high-quality, efficient production of custom cabinetry and millwork. Key Responsibilities: • Prepare detailed shop drawings, part lists, and engineering documentation based on architectural plans, field measurements, and concept sketches., • Create and manage machine-ready CAD files for CNC production, including DXF files, nested panel layouts, and toolpath-ready outputs., • Translate complex custom cabinetry and millwork designs into accurate, build-able components., • Work closely with project managers and production leads to ensure accuracy, feasibility, and manufacturability., • Specify hardware and accessories using industry-standard systems (e.g., BLUM, Häfele)., • Maintain drawing standards, part libraries, and assist with standardization of construction methods., • Participate in design and production reviews to help resolve technical or fabrication challenges. Qualifications • 2–5 years of experience in CAD drafting, millwork engineering, or production design., • Strong proficiency in 2D and 3D CAD software (AutoCAD or similar)., • Proven ability to create accurate, build-able shop drawings from architectural and conceptual inputs., • Solid understanding of cabinet construction methods, custom woodworking, and joinery., • Familiarity with CNC manufacturing processes, including panel nesting., • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to manage projects from concepts through production., • Excellent communication skills for collaboration across design, engineering, and production teams. Preferred Skills (Not Required) • Experience with CAM software or CNC programming., • Familiarity reviewing architectural drawings, red lines, and markups., • Experience with high-end residential or commercial custom cabinetry projects.
