Job Description Position Title: Van Driver/Support staff Reports to: Program Director or Designee Department: Administration DOPP Behavior Health HBDS IPS PEP Foster Care TIPS AERC CERC Program: FLSA Status: Exempt Fee-For-Service Non-exempt Location: 5217 Overbrook Ave. POSITION SUMMARY: The Intensive Prevention Services (IPS) Van Driver/Support staff is as an integral member of the IPS team. He/she will provide transportation services and support services for the IPS clients, primarily for the SW IPS program, but will fill in for the NW IPS program and the AERC program when needed. This position will also support the programs with meal preparation and creating program activities as needed. The IPS Van Driver will work primarily from 11:30am up to 7:300pm for program needs with the understanding that when filling for the AERC program, program runs until 8pm and clients are transported home between 8pm and 9pm. There will also be times when the Driver will be needed on Saturdays for special trips and or community service projects. The position will also take an active role in food preparation and food supply shopping on days where there is no programming for IPS SW. This position requires flexibility and is a full-time non-exempt position. EDUCATION/CREDENTIALS/SKILLS/EXPERIENCE: 1. A current and valid driver’s license, driving record free of any moving violations or points and a driving record that meets JJC insurance company insurability requirements., 2. Experience transporting passengers in a twelve to fifteen passenger van., 3. Ability to pass and keep current a valid Food Safe Serve certificate, 4. Ability to sustain control and high level of safety when operating the vehicle, 5. A high school diploma or equivalent and one year working with inner-city youth., 6. An annual physical form verifying that the employee is “free from contagion"., 7. Act 160 PA criminal, child abuse and FBI Clearances within one year of hire., 8. The ability and willingness to adjust work hours in accord with program schedule., 9. A proven and demonstrated ability and experience in working within a team-based setting and group settings., 10. Ability to communicate and interact in a professional, and courteous way when dealing with clients, parents, co-workers and colleagues., 11. Ability to remain calm, professional, and levelheaded when clients and or parents become irate, agitated, or non-responsive to directives. POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES: Transportation Duties • Responsible for ensuring that all clients are safe while being transported from the program and upon being delivered to destination., • Responsible for transporting client from program site, to planned outings, and/or field trips and then back home., • Assist client on and off the vehicle. Some duties also include accommodating client with disabilities by loading and unloading wheelchairs, crutches, braces, and other medically necessary items (if applicable)., • Responsible for ensuring each client’s safety while on the vehicle. Every client must be seated and strapped in according to the state's safety belt laws., • Must do a walk-through of the vehicle once each passenger is delivered and ensure that all passengers are secure in their seat., • Must follow the laws of the road. The driver observes the speed limit, and all road signs and signal aids in the task of delivering the client’s safely to their destinations., • Responsible for maintaining daily vehicle mileage and fuel levels, reports and submitting the report to the IPS Program and AERC Director daily., • Responsible for the cleanliness and maintenance of the vehicle and communicating to the IPS Director of needed and regularly scheduled maintenance checks., • Responsible for taking the vehicle to get maintenance repairs, vehicle safety checks as well as taking the vehicle for annual inspections., • Communicates all issue regarding client’s behavior while on the vehicle and redirecting negative behavior in a professional and courteous manner., • Adheres to all policies regarding fuel card purchases., • Adheres to all driving warnings received via Verizon connect., • Agrees to not tamper with any GPS equipment installed in or on JJC vehicles., • Notes and report to Director all irregularities, dangerous practices and conditions, accidents, fires, and other acts or circumstances requiring prompt action or other action, which affects the health and welfare of client and program staff., • Responsible for filling in for Van Drivers in other programs, when they are out and on the days there is no programming at IPS-SW., • Responsible for informing director of any tickets received and agrees to pay for any parking and or driving violations., • Responsible for reporting any accident immediately to director and HR. Meal Preparation Duties • Responsible for monthly/weekly meal planning for program clients. Ensure a biweekly menu is prepared and posted (if applicable)., • Ensure all meal items are purchased on a biweekly basis and the expense report with all receipts are submitted to the fiscal department biweekly by due date., • Responsible for daily meal preparation. Ensure all meals are healthy, nutritious, and prepared according to program guidelines., • Responsible for planning healthy cooking classes with the clients, and their families. Other Duties • Assists with periodic fire drills in accord with all city and state mandates., • Provides general assistance to all persons, including information regarding location, meetings, and special events., • Takes needed action as to suspicious person and conditions and reports significant activities, occurrences, and conditions., • Meet the required number of training hours which include a minimum of 20 training hours on an annual basis., • Supervises client, when necessary, to provide a safe and secure environment. PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORK ENVIRONMENT: • Must be flexible, as there will be times when the Driver will be needed on Saturdays and during the day for special trips. Hours will vary depending on client’s geographic area/location., • Employee may be involved in de-escalating client behaviors using approved techniques. There may be potential exposure to blood borne pathogens., • Participates in meetings to ensure priorities are clear, coordination is good, and communications are open., • Cooperates and communicates as a multi-discipline team member through formal meetings, informal discussion, and other participation as necessary., • Models traits of a responsible team member, executing job responsibilities, open communication, good follow through; professionalism, and supports team members to do the same., • Responds promptly to the concerns and interests of the clients, parents, guardians, and funding entities and other JJC staff., • Reports any activities or suspicions of child abuse and or neglect. Ensures compliance with all JJC’s policies and procedures, including confidentiality and reporting suspected abuse in accordance with CPSL, 23 Pa.C.S. § § 6301—6385, and JJC policies and procedures.
