Job Description POSITION: Registered Dietitian-Nutritionist REPORTS TO: Nutrition & Client Services Manager POSITION TYPE: Full-Time ABOUT MANNA MANNA is a nonprofit organization in Philadelphia providing nutrition services to improve health for people with serious illnesses who need nourishment to heal. By providing medically tailored meals and nutrition education, we empower people to improve their health and quality of life. SUMMARY: The Registered Dietitian-Nutritionist is a core member of the organization, providing Medical Nutrition Therapy services for the MANNA clients. As the nutrition expert, the RDN will be responsible for assessing client eligibility for the MANNA home-delivered meal program and selecting the appropriate length of time of service and dietary modifications. The RDN will provide exceptional one-on-one and group-based nutrition counseling for clients and community members, developing supportive nutrition education materials. This position will collaborate with the Nutrition & Client Services Manager to help develop, analyze and update menu offerings as well as to oversee quality assurance. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: This position will oversee and act as a point person for the Intake Specialists as well as serve as a preceptor for dietetic interns completing their community nutrition rotations. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: • Review MANNA Referral forms to determine eligibility and program offerings., • Receive and review MANNA philanthropic program referrals., • Assess medical and dietary history to evaluate nutritional acuity and determine eligibility and best strategy for MNT interventions., • Provide oversight and support with the Intake Specialists., • Oversee MANNA’s Recertification process., • Monitor and evaluate health updates from the clients’ medical care provider to determine ongoing eligibility and length of stay for the MANNA meal program., • Provide nutrition support and updates to MANNA’s program offerings as needed., • Determine appropriate exit dates for the clients’ current enrollment., • Provide comprehensive nutrition education., • Provide one-one-one nutrition counseling and support for MANNA clients and their caregivers or family members as needed., • Data entry of grant related nutrition counseling sessions and client progress., • Develop content for group nutrition education classes held at MANNA or at community program partner locations, • Partner with chefs to provide hands-on cooking classes as part of MANNA’s Get Fresh series., • Assist with updates to the MANNA’s cycle menu and quality assurance., • Assess client feedback and changes to the national nutrition guidelines to help determine changes needed to the current menu cycle., • Work with chefs to update or develop new menu offerings., • Evaluate recipes’ nutritional content using a nutrient analysis tool to ensure that menu items fit within the dietary modifications., • General food service responsibilities including kitchen audits, CQI checks and menu adherence., • Develop educational materials., • Select or develop education materials and methods appropriate for individual clients., • Create nutrition-focused content for MANNA’s social media platforms., • Provide periodic training for MANNA staff to ensure understanding and knowledge of MANNA’s meal program., • Develop weekly nutrition tips for the client meal bags, • Act as a preceptor for dietetic interns completing their community nutrition rotations., • Develop intern projects and rotation schedules as assigned by the Nutrition & Client Services Manager., • Provide and direct learning experiences setting short and long-term goals, • Communicate assigned projects, evaluations and concerns, • Proficiency in English; bilingual or multilingual abilities a plus., • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with diverse audiences., • Excellent interpersonal skills and a demonstrated commitment to respectful, professional, and client-centered service., • Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail., • Effective time management skills with the ability to prioritize responsibilities and meet deadlines., • Demonstrated analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving abilities., • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and exercise sound judgment in a fast-paced environment., • Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team., • Adaptability and resilience in dynamic or high-pressure work environments., • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and the ability to learn and use role-related technology and systems. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE • Registered Dietitian-Nutritionist (RDN) by the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics and Licensed Dietitian Nutritionist (LDN) in Pennsylvania, • If registration eligible, must pass the dietetic registration exam (CDR) within 6 months of hire; Licensure state of Pennsylvania (LDN) within 6 months of hire, • Bachelor’s degree in nutrition required, Master’s degree preferred., • At least one-year related experience required., • Must be able to lift 10-15 lbs., • Must be able to sit/stand at a desk for long periods of time. SALARY: $64,000 – $67,000, commensurate with experience BENEFITS: Health and Vision insurance, Dental insurance, FSA, Pre-tax Commuter Spending Account, Life insurance, Disability insurance, 401(k) plan with match, PTO up to 12 days in year one plus 5 sick days, 11 paid holidays plus two ‘floating’ holidays per year.
