Job Description Lead Medical Assistant Ironwood Cancer & Research Centers has beautiful state-of-the-art integrated Cancer and Women's Centers, with locations strategically located throughout the Valley. Each one provides a superior cancer care environment with a full spectrum of cancer related services for patients. Our multi-disciplinary team approach includes surgical oncology, medical oncology, radiation oncology, women's centers, diagnostic imaging services, social service support, nutritionist, integrative services, and genetic counseling. Mission Statement: To serve the community by providing quality, comprehensive cancer care which respects the values and needs of each individual. Overview: Works under the supervision and guidance of the Office Manager and Physicians. In conjunction with Office Manager and Supervisor (if applicable) assists in the monitoring the efficiencies of the Medical Assistant team. Coordinates the activities of the Medical Assistants and acts as a Float MA to provide coverage when needed. Performs job duties and responsibilities in compliance with company policies and procedures. Performs other duties and responsibilities as required. Schedule: This is a full-time, day-shift position working a Monday - Friday schedule. This position will be in our Dobson Location Essential Duties and Responsibilities: • Coordinates daily clinic Medical Assistant coverage; distributes work equally amongst MA’s., • Supports and monitors all Medical Assistant functions, and tasks, including referrals, Rx folder, MA inbox., • Provides Medical Assistant coverage as needed as well as assists Injection MA’s., • Assists Office Manager and/or Supervisor in monitoring daily performance of Medical Assistant team., • Motivate and support staff. Provide input for OM/Supervisor in 30-60-90-day reviews., • Maintains a professional demeanor and relationship with Medical Assistants and other employees., • Promotes a team-oriented and positive work environment., • Coordinates pharmacy rep contact with Medical Assistant team., • Rooms patients; completes and records vital signs, applicable patient assessment items, and prepares patient charts., • Accepts and return phone calls as needed; Calls patients with results as directed by provider., • Communicates with physicians and other departments as necessary., • Alongside the Office Manager, holds monthly 1:1 meetings with Medical Assistants as well as weekly Team meetings as applicable., • Conducts Standard of Care audits for Medical Assistants to ensure proper protocols are followed., • Performs other duties as assigned by the Office Manager or Physicians., • Stable work history, and ability to work in a fast-paced environment., • Must be able to obtain vital signs and take instructions from Physicians., • Must be able to relate well to patients., • Computer and typing skills desirable. Experience with electronic medical records a plus., • Should have good organizational skills, effective oral, and written communication skills., • Should be flexible, reliable, and self-motivated., • Excellent customer service skills., • Knowledge of HIPAA rules and regulations., • Knowledge of chemotherapy related drugs and supplies utilized, preferred., • Knowledge of diagnostic testing and radiation procedures, preferred., • 2-4 years’ experience as a Medical Assistant preferred., • National MA Certification required (will need to obtain within 90 days of hire)., • Medical Oncology experience preferred.
