Job Description POSITION OVERVIEW The Community Dietitian provides medical nutrition therapy to clients experiencing food insecurity and chronic illness, including nutritional assessment, counseling, and education. The Community dietitian is responsible for monitoring and documenting the nutritional status and needs of clients. They also assist in developing educational materials as well as developing strategies for community engagement. ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES • Conducts nutrition assessments, counseling, and education in-person (during home visits or clinic appointments) or via telephone/telehealth to evaluate, monitor, and document the nutritional status of clients receiving services., • Collaborates with providers to identify and connect with clients in need of nutrition counseling., • Assists in the prescription and provision of oral nutrition supplements., • Assists in the supervision of dietetic interns, students, and volunteers., • Participates in nutrient analysis and menu planning, in collaboration with the Executive Chef and Nutrition Manager, to ensure meals and food items meet nutrition standards, are high quality, and meet the needs of the clients., • Provides community-based nutrition presentations when assigned., • Develops and updates educational materials to meet the needs of clients., • Participates in the quality improvement process to identify ways to improve the care of clients., • Adheres to all Federal Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) regulations, by protecting the privacy and security of all patient/client health information., • Participates in Moveable Feast’s events as required., • Knowledge of and adherence to Moveable Feast’s Personnel Policies and Procedures., • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned or requested. EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE • Bachelor's degree in Food and Nutrition, Dietetics, Nutritional Sciences, Human Nutrition, or comparable major, required. A master's degree in a relevant field is preferred., • Credentialed as a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RD/RDN) by the Commission on Dietetic Registration or RDN eligible with plans to take the exam within the next 6 months, required., • Holds licensure in the state of Maryland as a Licensed Dietitian Nutritionist (LDN) or licensure pending post-RDN exam, required., • Minimum of one year of experience in nutritional counseling, education & dietary planning; internship experience counts. Possess valid Maryland Driver’s license and availability of a personal vehicle. Strong ability to work independently and collaboratively., • Must adhere to high ethical standards of integrity and discretion in working with confidential information. This position requires weekly on-site work at our office location 901 N. Milton Avenue, Baltimore, MD 21205 with eligibility for hybrid remote work after successful completion of the 90-day probationary period.
