Job Description We are looking for a seasoned creditors’ rights attorney to manage our New York practice which is physically operated from our Cranford, New Jersey office. The ideal candidate will be personable with a leadership background and significant New York creditors’ rights experience, though we will also consider established leaders with a significant history of successfully representing institutional lenders in New Jersey. This position offers the opportunity to travel around the country to attend conferences and visit clients. We are looking for someone who proactively and efficiently handles their workload with a focus on producing an excellent work product , team building and advancing the practice. Management of Assigned State or Functional Expertise • Leads from the front and provides motivation, vision and direction to the team, • Demonstrates professionalism and ability to function as part of a cohesive team, • Proactively addresses complex and problematic matters and associated client communication, • Sets clear performance objectives, including short and long term priorities, • Develops client contacts and collaborates internally to ensure continued business growth, • Immediately reports conflicts, reputational issues and potential liability matters to clients and Firm management, • Keeps current on legal, regulatory and ethical developments and escalates internally as necessary to assure compliance Case Management, Client Service and Compliance • Provides litigation oversight, including new case evaluations, ongoing reviews, case assignments, internal quality audits, trial strategies and final review of all cases designated for trial, • Partners with Managing Paralegal and Firm leadership to ensure cases are managed and billed appropriately and that changes are effectively implemented, • Serves as co-counsel with other legal staff and/or outside counsel on litigation., • Utilizes on-line and other references to research and analyze statutes, judicial decisions, legal articles, codes and the like, • Ensures coverage for attendance at hearings, settlement conferences and other appearances as necessary, • Recommends and drives continuous improvement, • Provides internal and external training as required for effective client service and business growth Supervision of Associates • Collaborates with team in developing objectives and other standards., • Holds team accountable for a high level of client service and excellence in work produced, • Formally evaluates direct reports annually; provides formal and informal feedback on-going and as needed, • Recommends compensation changes, • Fosters a supportive, team-centric, work environment Development • Stays current on relevant laws, regulations, statutes, industry standards and client expectations, • Provides team with training and opportunities to enhance skills, knowledge and abilities, • Holds mentoring and candid career development conversations with staff, • Demonstrates leadership, innovation and diligence, • Leads by example and sets the standard for team conduct Other Responsibilities And Duties as May Be Assigned Minimum Qualifications • J.D from an ABA accredited law school, • Bar Admission active and in good standing in New York (NY & NJ license preferred), • At least 8 years of practice; Direct NY default / real estate practice preferred, transferable NJ experience will be considered, • Minimum 2 years’ management experience, • Ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with leadership across firm, • Experience with using Firm and Client case management systems, • Outstanding written and oral communication skills to communicate with other attorneys, staff and clients, • Outstanding organizational skills, • Ability to handle a large volume of cases with speed and accuracy, • Proficient in Microsoft Office products, such as Outlook, Word and Excel Physical Demands The physical demands described are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
