The MRI Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the imaging operations and procedures of the MRI modality, this position will select and evaluate technologists, oversee staff schedules, performance, and productivity. At the direction of the Radiology Systems Manager, the MRI Supervisor oversees the MRI technical staff in the designated section/s of the department. S/he oversees technical procedures, patient care, and workflow to ensure safe and effective patient care and acts as a role model and facilitator working in collaboration with all levels of departmental personnel. S/he will implement policies and procedures relevant to CHS and licensing bodies, and maintain working knowledge of equipment and provide staff coverage as needed. Roles and Responsibilities: • General Responsibilities:, • Manages Daily Operations, • Maintains appropriate schedules (staffing and patients), • Assist with oversite of offsite MRI, • Fills in when needed in the MRI department, • Maintains a safe MRI work environment in conjunction with the MRSO, • Monitors Equipment, • Ensures equipment and procedures are safe, functional and capable of meeting the diagnostic needs of the medical staff in a timely manner, • Develops and implements a plan for equipment procurement, maintenance and replacement, • Keeps abreast of new developments in MRI Imaging Technology and makes recommendations on the acquisitions and implementation of new technology, • Reports problems related to the MRI equipment, work methods, or procedures to the Systems Manager promptly., • Regulations, • Ensures compliance with the Joint Commission, ACR, Federal, State, and local agencies, • Accountable for adherence to state and federal rules and regulations on safety and quality assurance programs, • Clinical Excellence/ Patient Safety, • Supervise staff and resolves human resource, employee relations, employee and departmental issues, • Selects and trains technical imaging staff, • Monitors staff performance and development of competencies, performance standards and imaging protocols for the department, • Functions as a role model in promoting Culture and Safety, • Researches ways to include patient and staff suggestions into quality and safe process improvements, • Establish measures to achieve clinical and operational goals, • Fiscal Integrity, • Identifies and implements opportunities to reduce costs, • Use resources efficiently, effectively and responsibly, • Communication, • Communicates with patients, staff, offices, and physicians effectively and frequently, • Communicates any equipment malfunction with other staff, • Documents equipment issues in the communication logbook for reference, • Demonstrates proper phone etiquette when answering, transferring, or taking messages, • Communicate regularly with the Imaging Managers and Director, • Reports to the Imaging systems Manager Required Skills and Experience: • Education: Minimum of Associates degree, Radiologic Sciences program. ARRT Certification in MRI., • Licensure: ARRT credentials for Diagnostic Imaging and NYS license. Also must receive the enhanced NYS license for injection, on or before completion of introductory period. Imaging Certification required (CRT, • Experience: 2 years' experience as a MRI technologist preferred Preferred Skills and Experience: • Problem solving ability and attention to detail is preferred, • Good written and oral communication skills preferred., • Requires ability to prioritize work, manage time wisely and adjust to changes in work volumes., • Working knowledge and experience in a high volume Imaging department required, • Demonstrates strong communications skills, employee relations and human relation skills, • Comprehensive knowledge of federal, state and local regulatory standards required, • Strong computer skills required, • Strong coaching and development skills Physical Requirements: • Ability to stand/sit for long periods while performing ultrasound studies. Ability to push ultrasound equipment throughout hospital for bedside testing.
