Job Description Job Title: Payroll Analyst Job Description The Payroll Analyst leads full-cycle domestic and international payroll operations, ensuring accurate, compliant, and timely pay for employees across multiple regions and pay frequencies. This role manages payroll processing, tax compliance, general ledger integration, system configuration, and reporting, while partnering closely with HR, Finance, Legal, and external vendors to maintain payroll integrity and deliver exceptional service in a remote environment. Responsibilities • Lead end-to-end payroll processing for domestic and international employee populations across multiple pay frequencies., • Ensure accurate and timely payroll execution for new hires, terminations, leaves of absence, compensation changes, bonuses, commissions, retroactive adjustments, manual checks, off-cycle payments, and corrections., • Process and validate payroll imports and data feeds to external and internal platforms, including banking, benefits, retirement, timekeeping, and financial systems., • Audit employee records to confirm accurate job assignments, compensation details, tax profiles, deductions, direct deposit information, and benefit elections., • Manage time-sensitive terminations, payroll adjustments, and direct deposit discrepancies with urgency, accuracy, and care., • Coordinate multi-country payroll activities with international vendors, aggregators, and in-country partners to support compliant payroll delivery across applicable regions., • Serve as a primary liaison for global payroll platforms and vendors such as Deel, Rippling, Papaya Global, ADP Global, or comparable providers., • Monitor country-specific payroll requirements and escalate compliance risks across regions including EMEA, APAC, LATAM, Canada, and Mexico., • Partner with HR, Legal, and Finance on cross-border pay issues, local statutory requirements, and employee lifecycle events that impact pay., • Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local payroll tax regulations, including multi-state tax requirements and jurisdictional setup., • Track and interpret payroll tax updates, SUI rate changes, wage and hour requirements, garnishment rules, and income withholding orders, ensuring adherence to court-mandated deadlines., • Manage year-end payroll activities including W-2 preparation and distribution, ACA reporting, 941 filings, reconciliations, and applicable country-specific filings., • Develop and maintain standard operating procedures, internal controls, training materials, and audit-ready documentation for payroll, taxes, general ledger processes, and payroll system administration., • Support internal and external audits by preparing reports, documentation, data analysis, and clear variance explanations., • Generate, review, and reconcile payroll general ledger files from UKG or comparable payroll platforms., • Investigate general ledger variances and resolve discrepancies in collaboration with Accounting and Finance teams., • Support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close activities, including accruals, payroll-related account reconciliations, and accurate payroll posting to financial systems such as LN or comparable systems., • Configure and maintain payroll system settings where appropriate, including pay rules, accrual policies, deduction codes, tax profiles, and system workflows., • Prepare routine and ad hoc payroll reports for management, Finance, HR, auditors, and leadership stakeholders., • Track payroll metrics such as error rates, timeliness, audit findings, open issues, and reconciliation status to support continuous improvement., • Use advanced Excel skills, including pivot tables, lookups, formulas, and reconciliations, to analyze payroll data and resolve issues., • Serve as the primary escalation point for complex payroll inquiries and issues related to earnings, deductions, taxes, benefits, timekeeping, and general ledger., • Partner with HR, Benefits, Accounting, IT, Legal, and external vendors to maintain payroll integrity and resolve cross-functional issues., • Deliver responsive, professional, and high-quality customer service to employees and managers regarding payroll matters., • Identify and recommend process improvements that enhance payroll accuracy, efficiency, compliance, and scalability. Essential Skills • 3-4+ years of progressive payroll experience, including U.S. multi-state payroll and tax compliance., • 1+ years of international or global payroll exposure, including coordination with global payroll vendors or in-country partners., • Hands-on experience with enterprise payroll and HRIS platforms such as UKG, ADP, Workday, Ceridian, or comparable systems, with UKG configuration experience strongly preferred., • Demonstrated experience with payroll accounting, general ledger reconciliation, payroll audits, and internal controls., • Strong working knowledge of FLSA, federal and state wage and hour laws, garnishment processing, income withholding orders, and year-end payroll requirements., • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, pivot tables, reconciliations, and complex formulas., • Proven ability to manage competing priorities and strict deadlines in a remote work environment., • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex payroll concepts clearly to non-technical stakeholders., • Deep expertise in payroll processing, payroll operations, and payroll tax compliance. Additional Skills & Qualifications • Experience working with global payroll platforms and vendors such as Deel, Rippling, Papaya Global, ADP Global, or similar providers., • Background in supporting multi-country payroll across regions including EMEA, APAC, LATAM, Canada, and Mexico., • Experience developing and maintaining payroll-related standard operating procedures and training materials., • Prior involvement in year-end activities such as W-2 preparation, ACA reporting, 941 filings, and country-specific payroll filings., • Experience preparing and presenting payroll reports and analytics to Finance, HR, auditors, and leadership., • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, especially in resolving payroll discrepancies and general ledger variances., • Comfort working with financial systems such as LN or comparable platforms for payroll posting and reconciliation., • Customer-service mindset with a focus on accuracy, confidentiality, and professionalism when handling sensitive payroll information. Work Environment This role operates in a remote work environment that relies heavily on cloud-based payroll, HRIS, and financial systems. The Payroll Analyst works extensively with enterprise platforms such as UKG, ADP, Workday, Ceridian, and global payroll solutions, as well as banking, benefits, retirement, timekeeping, and general ledger systems like LN or comparable tools. The position involves regular collaboration with HR, Finance, Legal, IT, Benefits, and external vendors across multiple time zones, requiring strong communication and time management skills. Work is deadline-driven, particularly around payroll cycles, month-end and year-end close, and audit activities, and calls for a high level of accuracy, data integrity, and attention to detail in a professional, results-oriented culture. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Atlanta, GA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $29.00 - $36.00/hr.
