A leading international law firm is seeking a Counsel-level Litigation Attorney with 8+ years of experience to join its general liability defense practice in New York. This role involves handling complex, high-exposure litigation matters for domestic and international insurers, insureds, and corporate clients across a broad range of liability claims. The position offers significant responsibility, including managing a full caseload, supervising junior attorneys, and taking a lead role in strategy, client reporting, and case resolution. Responsibilities: • Managing a caseload of approximately 25–30 active litigation matters, • Handling complex general liability cases, including New York Labor Law, premises liability, catastrophic injury, transportation, hospitality, and negligent security claims, • Taking and defending depositions, • Attending court appearances, hearings, and mediations, • Drafting pleadings, motions, and briefs in state and federal court, • Preparing discovery requests, responses, and document productions, • Conducting complex legal research using Westlaw, Lexis, and Nexis, • Investigating claims and developing case strategy from inception through resolution, • Preparing detailed reports to insurance carriers, insureds, and other stakeholders, • Managing matters through all phases of litigation, including trial preparation and mediation, • Reviewing and analyzing documents and evidence for production, • Supervising and mentoring associates and paralegals, • Communicating directly with clients, insurers, and international stakeholders Qualifications: • Admitted to practice in New York, • J.D. obtained in 2016 or earlier, • 8+ years of litigation experience, • Experience handling general liability, insurance defense, or complex civil litigation matters, • Strong deposition and motion practice experience, • Excellent academic credentials, • Exceptional legal writing and communication skills, • Strong leadership and mentoring ability, • Ability to manage multiple matters independently, • Ability to interact with clients and build strong working relationships, • Strong problem-solving skills and strategic thinking Benefits: • Salary range: $200,000 – $220,000, • Hybrid working flexibility, • Flexible paid time off policy, • Annual performance bonus plus monthly bonus opportunities, • Student loan repayment assistance, • Referral bonus program, • Mentorship and career development programs, • Regional and global associate training opportunities, • Social, volunteer, and professional development events, • Six months fully paid parental leave, • Opportunities to participate in client-facing and international programs, • Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverage, • Short-term and long-term disability coverage If you are interested in this position, and you meet the requirements of the role, please click “apply now” to forward an up-to-date copy of your resume.
