Head of ManufacturingDomo Modular | San Diego, CA Company Overview Domo Modular is redefining multifamily housing and prefab construction in America through true vertical integration. We control the entire value chain: design, precision manufacturing, transport, installation, and long-term property management. This vertical integration allows Domo to deliver fully finished (and furnished), MEP-complete, steel volumetric apartment units at a fraction of the time and cost of traditional methods. We have already successfully stacked (built) our first modular multifamily building (60 residential dwelling units, comprised of 78 prefab modules (stairs, elevators, and amenity rooms – all built in the factory too!) and have the second project in active development which is double the size. Our contracted pipeline now exceeds 2,300 units across Southern California, and we are scaling aggressively to deliver 3–5+ full projects per year. Every module we produce goes directly into buildings we develop and manage. Meaning, we are our own customer, which gives us perfect alignment between factory output and market demand. We are now at the most exciting inflection point in our history: expanding our manufacturing from our current IMMEX-certified facility in Mexico to adding brand-new, state-of-the-art U.S. facility in San Diego. This move creates a ground-floor leadership opportunity to design, commission, and scale a world-class production operation that will become the engine powering our national expansion. The Opportunity This is not a typical Director role. We are looking for a hands-on operational leader and systems architect who thrives on designing and scaling high-efficiency manufacturing operations from the ground up in a high-growth environment. You will not be maintaining someone else’s system; you will create the repeatable, high-throughput factory processes that turn our growing pipeline into reality and support at least 3–5 multifamily projects annually, and the additional verticals we tackle (senior housing, student housing, military housing, hospitality, and more). You will lead the full implementation and ramp of our new San Diego facility while orchestrating the seamless expansion to our new U.S. operations. This role sits at the absolute center of our vertically integrated model: you will synchronize manufacturing output with Domo Modular’s development schedules and Domo Construction’s installation sequences. If you love rolling up your sleeves on the factory floor while simultaneously thinking at the enterprise level about cost, throughput, quality, and strategic scaling, this is the role for you. The Role As Head of Manufacturing, you will own end-to-end responsibility for the manufacturing and logistics engine that powers the entire Domo enterprise; from raw material intake to finished modules being craned onto job sites exactly when the construction team needs them. What You’ll Own Production Management • Run daily manufacturing operations for proprietary steel volumetric modular units., • Own production scheduling, capacity planning, and throughput optimization to match the 2,300+ unit pipeline and future 3–5 projects/year cadence., • Drive continuous improvement in labor efficiency (hours per unit), quality, and first-pass yield., • Manage labor allocation, shift structures, and workforce scaling from current levels to 100+ as volume grows. Factory Build-Out & Commissioning • Lead the physical and operational design of the new San Diego manufacturing facility, • Commission all equipment and establish world-class preventive maintenance and safety protocols., • Execute the phased expansion of production from the Mexico facility while maintaining zero disruption to the current development pipeline., • Target Phase 1 capacity: 1,000+ units annually, with clear roadmap to higher throughput as we scale. Cross-Divisional Coordination & Logistics • Partner directly with Domo’s development team on long-range forecasting and production sequencing based on project schedules., • Sequence module production and delivery to align precisely with Domo Construction’s foundation and crane schedules across Southern California (and future North American sites)., • Own logistics ensuring every unit arrives installation-ready with zero punch-list surprises., • Act as the single point of accountability between engineering/design, procurement, production, and warehouse/storage teams. Supply Chain & Material Flow • Own procurement strategy, vendor relationships, material forecasting, and inventory systems calibrated to the development pipeline., • Negotiate contracts and build resilient supplier networks (with backup sources for critical components, and finishes)., • Drive cost reduction and just-in-time material flow into the San Diego facility while supporting the expansion., • Ability to adapt to supply chain disruptions and forcasting Systems, Quality & Infrastructure • Select and implement ERP/MES, production tracking, quality management, and real-time KPI dashboards., • Build and maintain compliance pathways., • Design inspection protocols, defect tracking, root-cause analysis, and continuous improvement programs (Lean, Six Sigma principles encouraged). Team & Culture • Recruit, hire, train, and develop the production organization needed to scale up operations in San Diego., • Lead the cultural and operational between talent from the Mexico facility and the new U.S. operation., • Establish a culture of accountability, safety, and relentless improvement., • Scale the team responsibly while maintaining the speed and urgency that got us to this growth stage. P&L Ownership & Strategic Impact • Full ownership of the manufacturing budget, cost structure, labor efficiency, and profitability., • Deliver transparent reporting on throughput, margin, hours-per-unit, and on-time delivery metrics to the executive team., • Make disciplined trade-off decisions that balance cost, quality, schedule, and scalability across the entire enterprise value chain. What We Need/Experience • 15+ years in manufacturing operations with at least 5 years in senior leadership., • Proven track record scaling full-product assembly lines (e.g., automotive vehicles, trucks, RVs, boats, or similar complex assembled products; not just individual components or sub-assemblies)., • Demonstrated success improving and optimizing throughput, quality, value chain and cost simultaneously while managing production driven by external project timelines., • Experience process systems and coordinating across engineering, supply chain, production, and field operations in high-growth environments., • Track record building and leading production teams through periods of rapid scaling and operational transition. Preferred Background Strong preference for leaders who have designed, launched, or scaled high-volume manufacturing facilities for complex, fully assembled products. Automotive, heavy vehicle, RV, or marine manufacturing experience is highly valued for the process discipline and quality systems it brings. Prior modular, prefab, or building-products experience is a plus but not required; we are deliberately seeking proven manufacturing operators who can apply world-class assembly thinking to our steel volumetric modules. Familiarity with California building codes and inspection processes is helpful but not required. Qualities • Systems architect mentality: you create repeatable, scalable processes where none existed., • Hands-on operator: you are on the factory floor daily, not just in meetings., • Cross-functional integrator: you connect the dots between development forecasts, production realities, and construction schedules., • Accountable owner: you take full responsibility for outcomes, not just activities., • Adaptable and high-energy: comfortable wearing multiple hats while the company scales rapidly. Qualifications • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Operations Management, or related field (advanced degree or certifications a plus)., • Demonstrated success implementing Odoo ERP and MES and production systems from the ground up., • Exceptional communication and coordination skills — this role touches every part of the company. Compensation • Competitive base salary commensurate with experience., • Performance bonus tied directly to production milestones, quality metrics, on-time delivery, cost targets, and overall manufacturing profitability., • Comprehensive benefits package: health, dental, vision, 401(k), PTO, s Why This Role You will own the manufacturing engine that determines whether we hit our 2,300+ unit pipeline and accelerate to 3–5+ projects per year. Every module you deliver becomes part of a multifamily community that helps solve California’s housing crisis. This is real ownership in a vertically integrated company where engineering, manufacturing, development, and construction all sit under one roof; shared mission and shared success. If you are the kind of leader who gets excited about standing up a new factory, transitioning international operations, building high-performing teams, and driving measurable enterprise-scale impact, we want to talk to you. How to Apply Submit your resume and a brief note addressing: • Your experience designing or scaling manufacturing operations for complex assembled products., • Specific systems and processes you have implemented from scratch., • How you have led teams and operations through significant growth or transition periods.
