Job Title: Assistant Nurse Manager Department/Unit: ICU Location: White Plains, NY Employment Type: Full-Time Shift: Nights, Monday–Friday, 8:00 PM – 6:00 AM Position Summary The Assistant Nurse Manager supports departmental leadership by overseeing clinical operations, staffing, budgeting, quality initiatives, and staff development. This role ensures the delivery of high-quality patient care while maintaining compliance with regulatory, accreditation, and organizational standards. The Assistant Nurse Manager also provides leadership coverage and direct patient care as needed. Key Responsibilities • Adhere to organizational performance standards, policies, and professional behaviors, • Develop and submit departmental goals aligned with nursing and hospital strategic plans, • Interview, hire, evaluate, counsel, and terminate staff in accordance with policy, • Schedule staff based on departmental needs and budgeted staffing plans, • Maintain and update FTE components of staffing budgets, • Develop and manage operating and capital budgets; report variances as required, • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and accreditation standards, • Oversee staff orientation, annual competencies, and ongoing education, • Provide house supervision as assigned, • Participate in and support performance improvement and quality initiatives, • Develop and implement evidence-based standards of care, policies, and procedures, • Promote service excellence and patient satisfaction initiatives, • Conduct and document monthly staff meetings, • Utilize multiple communication methods to share information effectively, • Uphold patient and employee safety standards, • Participate in committees, task forces, and organizational projects, • Integrate patient rights, nursing ethics, and professional standards into practice, • Adhere to Joint Commission National Patient Safety Goals, • Delegate appropriately per NYS Nurse Practice Act, • Maintain compliance with professional codes of ethics and organizational policies, • Support shared governance and Magnet-related initiatives, • Provide direct patient care as needed, • Perform other related duties as assigned Education & Experience Requirements • Current New York State RN license, • BSN required (or active matriculation in a BSN program with approved completion plan), • Minimum of 2 years of relevant acute care experience, • Previous management or leadership experience preferred, • Ability to function as a staff RN with demonstrated clinical excellence, • Basic knowledge of management principles, • Excellent verbal and written communication skills Certifications • BLS (American Heart Association) – Required, • ACLS (American Heart Association) – Required or preferred based on department needs, • Specialty certification or CNML (Certified Nurse Manager & Leader) preferred (must be obtained within 3 years of hire if not already held) Compensation: $129,465 – $168,032 annually Benefits: Full suite of benefits and retirement plan Qualified candidates are encouraged to apply to join a collaborative leadership team dedicated to clinical excellence, patient safety, and professional growth.
