Position Summary The Medical Assistant provides administrative and clinical support to licensed medical providers, as allowable by law, to ensure appropriate patient care and efficient office operations. A Certified (Registered) Medical Assistant supports providers and patients by handling various patient-care tasks related to management, organization, and communication. The position requires accuracy, quality work, compassion, and timeliness, while attending to patient needs. Key Roles & Responsibilities • Assists during medical examinations, as allowable by law, • Performs general office duties (e.g., answering telephones, taking dictation, and completing insurance forms), • Schedules follow up appointment if indicated by provider, • Returns patient calls by the end of the day EMA experience is a plus! • High school diploma or equivalent; some college preferred, • 1+ year of experience working as a medical assistant (dermatology experience strongly preferred), • Knowledge of medical terminology, • Excellent grammar, spelling, and punctuation, • Friendly and compassionate disposition with strong interpersonal communication skills, • Ability to work independently or as part of a team

THE OPPORTUNITY AT HAND We’re looking for a Testing Technician that is passionate and empathetic people to join our team as Ophthalmic Techs. Our Techs are responsible for all the pre-exam elements of the patient visit. This includes gathering and documenting patient information and history and conducting routine and ancillary patient testing. You’ll play a vital role in the patients experience with OCLI and in helping our Dr’s to diagnose and treat eye disorders. OUR EXPECTATIONS OF YOU • Tests and measures eye function to assist Ophthalmologist to diagnose and treat eye disorders and disease, • Performs and records initial history; including present/chief complaint, past ocular history, family history, systemic illness, medications, allergies and drug reactions, • Tests and records patient's far acuity, near acuity, peripheral vision, depth perception, and color perception, • Measures intraocular pressure of eyes (glaucoma test), excluding applanation, • Performs ancillary test such as lensometry, corneal topography, A scans, B scans, keratometry, fundus photography, slit lamp photography, specular misoscopy, and visual fields, (including central and peripheral vision); records results, • Transcribes physician's dictation into patient chart when applicable, • Knowledgeable in ocular pharmacology such as anesthetics, steroids, antibiotics, mydriatics and cycloplegics, epinephrine, miotics and non-steroidal anti-inflammatories, • Applies drops to anesthetize, dilate, or medicate eyes, • Collects and processes specimens for appropriate laboratory testing, • Prepares and stocks exam rooms; assists with exam, • Triages emergency cases appropriately into physician’s schedule, maintains patient flow, • Prepares patient and procedure room; assists ophthalmologist with in office procedures, • Performs first level maintenance on ophthalmic equipment and notifies office manager of any equipment malfunctions, • Utilizes as appropriate, infection control techniques and universal precautions, • Performs other tests and measurements as requested by Ophthalmologist, • Maintains confidentiality and professional demeanor at all times WHAT YOU'LL NEED TO SUCCEED • You have one-year certificate from college or technical school; minimum two years experience as an ophthalmic assistant or equivalent combination of education and experience., • You are CPR Certified, • You’re an excellent communicator – both verbally and written, • You’re outgoing, you love the idea of interacting with patients everyday, • You’re comfortable providing white glove service and responding quickly to our patients needs, • You’re a dependable problem solver – you’re the one people call to keep cool in stressful situations, • You have a positive, can-do attitude and work well in collaborative environments, • You’re flexible – you roll with the punches and easily accept change, • You’re knowledgeable in ocular pharmacology such as anesthetics, steroids, antibiotics, mydriatics and cycloplegics, epinephrine, miotics and non-steroidal anti-inflammatories is a PLUS, but not a requirement, • While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk and use hands to finger, handle, or feel. The employee is frequently required to sit. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
