Job DescriptionJob Title: Clean Room Associate – Surgical Instrument RefurbishmentJob Description The Clean Room Associate refurbishes surgical instruments through a structured cleaning, sorting, and labeling process in a modern, air-conditioned clean room environment. This role involves handling post-surgery instruments, operating cleaning equipment, following strict quality and cleanliness standards, and supporting overall facility upkeep across first and second shifts. Responsibilities • Refurbish surgical instruments by performing manual and automated cleaning, sorting, and labeling according to established procedures and quality standards., • Handle surgical instruments ranging from approximately 10 to 30 inches in length, ensuring safe and accurate processing at all times., • Move cases of instruments through a metal detector prior to the cleaning process to comply with safety and quality control requirements., • Begin each shift by gowning up in full clean room gear and preparing workstations and equipment for the day’s operations., • Lift and move bins weighing up to 50 pounds into a dishwasher-style cleaning unit, while following proper lifting techniques and safety guidelines., • Perform manual cleaning, sorting, power washing, and chemical cleaning of post-surgery instruments that may contain biological residue, maintaining professionalism and adherence to hygiene protocols., • Conduct post-cleaning tasks including labeling instruments and sorting them into appropriate bins for storage or further processing., • Maintain a clean and orderly work area by sweeping daily and participating in mopping duties twice per week as part of an all-hands facility responsibility., • Follow clean room protocols, including proper gowning and de-gowning procedures, to maintain sterile conditions and prevent contamination., • Stand for the duration of the shift while working at cleaning stations and equipment, using provided comfort mats as needed., • Comply with all attendance requirements, including not taking days off during the first 30 days of employment and participating in scheduled overtime, such as one Saturday per month., • Participate in cross-training to learn additional core competencies and support multiple areas of the operation, enabling career growth and flexibility., • Adhere to all safety, cleanliness, and dress code policies, including restrictions on facial piercings, nail polish, fake nails, and makeup, while following exceptions for permitted accessories., • Work collaboratively with team members across first and second shifts to meet production goals and uphold a strong quality mindset.Essential Skills, • Ability and willingness to work with post-surgery instruments that may contain blood and other biological materials while adhering to hygiene and safety standards., • Capability to stand for the entire shift with the support of comfort mats provided by the facility., • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds on an infrequent basis and move instrument bins safely into cleaning equipment., • Willingness and capability to gown up and work in full clean room gear, including smock, booties, gloves, beard net, hair net, plastic visor, and safety glasses., • Strong quality mindset with attention to detail in cleaning, sorting, and labeling instruments., • Reliability and commitment to attendance, including no days off during the first 30 days and availability for scheduled overtime, such as one Saturday per month., • Comfort working in an environment with sterile, hospital-like smells and a constant low humming sound similar to a dishwasher., • Ability to follow strict dress code requirements, including working without facial piercings, nail polish, fake nails, and makeup, while adhering to permitted exceptions., • Openness to cross-training and learning additional core competencies beyond initial assignment., • Entry-level readiness with the ability to learn and follow detailed procedures, even without prior experience in a similar role.Additional Skills & Qualifications, • Entry-level candidates are welcome; no specific prior experience is required, and training is provided on the job., • Experience in fast-paced environments such as fast food, cashier, line cook, cook, chef, retail, associate roles, dishwasher, prep cook, or server positions is valued., • High school diploma or GED is not required for this role; however, it is needed for advancement into supervisor or lead positions., • Comfort standing for extended periods and performing repetitive tasks in a structured production environment., • Interest in developing a strong quality mindset and following standardized processes and procedures., • Willingness to participate in cross-training to gain skills in multiple core competencies, supporting promotion and pay increase opportunities.Why Work Here? Work Environment The role is based in a clean, air-conditioned, brand-new facility designed for comfort and efficiency. Employees work in a controlled clean room environment and must gown up and gown down in full clean room gear, including smock, booties, gloves, beard net, hair net, plastic visor, and safety glasses. Closed-toe tennis shoes (not flats), work pants or jeans, and a plain shirt are required attire. The facility has a sterile, hospital-like smell and a slight humming sound similar to a dishwasher due to the cleaning equipment. Comfort mats are provided to support standing for the entire shift. There are three openings for first shift and three openings for second shift. First shift runs Monday through Friday from 5:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., and second shift runs Monday through Friday from 1:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Employees must be open to working one Saturday per month for overtime. The environment emphasizes cleanliness, safety, teamwork, and adherence to dress code and clean room protocols. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Chandler, AZ. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $17.50 - $18.50/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
