General Purpose: The Charge Nurse is a pivotal leadership role responsible for the daily clinical operations, patient flow, and staff supervision specifically across three convenient care clinic locations. This position is approximately 70% clinical and 30% administrative, balancing hands-on patient care with essential leadership duties. The Charge Nurse will ensure the delivery of high-quality, efficient, and patient-centered care in accordance with FQHC guidelines, organizational policies, and best nursing practices. This individual will serve as a clinical resource, problem-solver, and mentor for clinical staff, providing direct supervision to Medical Assistant Supervisors and oversight of their teams, fostering a collaborative and supportive work environment while traveling between the three clinics as needed to maintain hands-on oversight. Essential Duties/Position Responsibilities: • Compliance Support: Supports and ensures compliance with all applicable regulations and standards pertinent to the organization and areas of supervision, including FQHC guidelines, HIPAA, and OSHA., • Process Improvement: Assists in the development, implementation, and maintenance of efficient and effective care processes and procedures across all convenient care clinics., • Direct Patient Care: Provides direct service to patients by conducting various clinical procedures within the approved scope of nursing practice, accounting for approximately 70% of the role's focus. This includes, but is not limited to, wound care, splinting, and IV administration., • Staffing & Planning: Assists in developing staffing plans to meet organizational objectives of safe, high-quality patient care and ensures appropriate coverage across all three clinic locations., • Clinical Leadership & Oversight of Multiple Clinics: Provides direct oversight and management of daily clinical operations, patient flow, and resource allocation across all three convenient care clinic locations. Serves as the primary clinical resource and point of contact for all clinical staff, addressing immediate clinical questions, concerns, and issues. Ensures adherence to clinical protocols, standing orders, and evidence-based nursing practices. Monitors and manages patient wait times, ensuring efficient patient throughput while maintaining quality of care across all sites. Participates in and leads daily huddles to review patient schedules, assign duties, and address operational challenges at each clinic site. Conducts regular, consistent rounds at each of the three clinics to assess operations, provide on-site support, and identify areas for improvement., • Supervisor Functions: Provides direct supervision and performance management for Medical Assistant Supervisors, and indirect oversight of their teams of Medical Assistants and other clinical support staff across all three clinics. Responsibilities include managing workflow, assisting with staff scheduling to ensure adequate coverage and appropriate skill mix, and conducting or contributing to performance evaluations. Promotes a positive and collaborative team environment, addresses staff concerns, mediates conflicts, and escalates issues to management as appropriate., • Staff Development & Training: Provides mentorship and support for the professional growth of both supervisory and clinical staff. Identifies development opportunities and offers constructive feedback to encourage skill enhancement and accountability. Supports the orientation and onboarding of new supervisors and clinical team members. Fosters a culture of continuous learning and development within the clinical teams., • Quality & Compliance: Ensures compliance with all FQHC regulations, HIPAA guidelines, OSHA standards, and other relevant regulatory requirements across all three clinic sites. Participates in quality improvement initiatives, identifying opportunities to enhance patient safety, efficiency, and clinical outcomes. Monitors and addresses patient feedback and complaints related to clinical care. Assists with the development and implementation of clinical policies and procedures. Ensures accurate and timely documentation in the electronic health record (EHR). Oversees proper handling and storage of medications, medical supplies, and equipment., • Collaboration & Communication: Serves as a liaison between nursing staff, providers, administrative staff, and management. Facilitates effective communication channels to ensure seamless operations and consistent care delivery across all convenient care clinics. Collaborates with clinic managers and providers to optimize patient care delivery and address operational challenges. Participates in interdisciplinary team meetings and contributes to care planning. (Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.), • Minimum of 3 – 5 years of progressive clinical nursing experience, preferably in an outpatient, urgent care, or primary care setting., • Emergency Room (ER) experience preferred., • Minimum of 2 years of experience in a leadership, supervisory, or charge nurse role required, with demonstrated experience overseeing multiple sites or supervising other clinical leaders/supervisors., • Experience working in a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) or similar community health setting strongly preferred., • Current, unencumbered Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Colorado required., • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required. Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) preferred. Skills & Expertise • Comprehensive knowledge of nursing principles, practices, and procedures., • Strong clinical assessment skills for diverse patient populations., • Proficiency in performing wound care, splinting, and initiating and managing IVs., • Strong leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills., • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal., • Proven ability to effectively supervise and mentor clinical staff, including Medical Assistant Supervisors and their teams., • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively in a fast-paced environment across diverse clinic settings., • Proficiency in electronic health records (EHR) systems., • Demonstrated ability to mentor and develop staff., • Commitment to providing high-quality, patient-centered care to diverse populations. Work Schedule This position is exempt and may require work outside standard hours/shifts and in excess of 40 hours in a workweek. We offer a competitive salary range of $82,000-106,000, depending on your experience. This range reflects STRIDE’s good faith estimate of potential compensation at the time of posting.
