Job Description About the Role: The primary purpose of the Clinical Supervisor is to provide clinical supervision of the assigned clinical unit and directly supervising the clinical unit counseling staff. He/she is also responsible for the direction, provision and quality of counseling and therapeutic services provided to clients in an opioid treatment program or a facility providing outpatient counseling services and ensuring that the client treatment plan addresses both the client's substance abuse and mental health disorders. He/ She is responsible to assure the appropriate treatment modality and level of care for the client upon admission to the agency. He / She assumes the Director of Clinical Services responsibilities in his /her absence. As a primary therapist, conducts individual, couple, family counseling for all clients. Provides alcohol / substance abuse consultation, evaluation, referrals and crisis management. Responsibilities: * Ensuring coordination and integration of clinical services with all other client care services to support continuity of care. * Leading youth-focused services, school partnerships, and family engagement efforts, with strong community connections across Region 7. * Ensuring treatment plans address clients’ substance use disorders, mental health needs, psychosocial concerns, and medical issues as appropriate. * Coordinating and facilitating timely, efficient admissions, discharges, and exit planning for all clients. * Demonstrating strong assessment skills and ensuring staff apply appropriate interventions and referrals based on client needs. * Assigning caseloads and supervising, managing, and scheduling direct client services. * Ensuring staff develop individualized treatment plans and supervising the review of plans to confirm both short- and long-term client goals. * Ensuring accurate, timely, and high-quality clinical documentation, including progress notes, treatment plans, discharge summaries, and continuing care plans. * Providing guidance, training, and supervision to build staff competency in working with challenging clients, including the use of crisis intervention skills when necessary. * Participating collaboratively in team conferences with the multidisciplinary team. * Provides guidance and supervision to staff through regularly scheduled conferences. Reviews clinical documentation, weekly case management, and evaluation of monthly statistical reports Other Responsibilities: * Supervises clinical staff, ensuring compliance with agency policies and maintaining a safe, high-quality client care environment. * Participates in staff orientation, training, and ongoing education, keeping staff updated on clinical trends. * Maintains confidentiality, proper boundaries, and ethical relationships with clients and co-workers. * Interviews, trains, coaches, and develops staff, conducting performance appraisals and supporting professional growth. * Oversees clinical documentation, client records, treatment plans, and quality improvement initiatives. * Provides assessments, individual counseling, and group therapy as needed, entering all required data accurately. * Ensures clinical services, staff, and operations comply with regulatory and safety requirements. * Acts as program liaison in the community, representing the agency at committees, conferences, and local programs. * Supports staff in client advocacy, helping clients access treatment and service resources. * Evaluates clients’ financial status for sliding fees or assistance and manages related documentation and billing. * Maintains professional development, licenses, and certifications while staying current in the mental health and addiction field. * Demonstrates initiative in problem-solving and encourages staff and client engagement. Minimum Education and Experience Qualifications * Licensed in the State of New Jersey as an LCADC, LCSW, LPC, or Psychologist, and qualified as a substance abuse supervisor per NJ Alcohol and Drug Counselor Regulations (N.J.S.A. 45:2D-1 et seq.). * Minimum two (2) years of experience in a LCADC, LCSW, LPC, or Psychology role. * Minimum two (2) years of experience in Human Services or a related field. * Minimum three (3) years of experience in a substance abuse treatment program or facility. * Strong communication, organizational, and record-keeping skills. * Ability to work effectively with clients with substance use, co-occurring, and/or mental health disorders. * Ability to train, mentor, and evaluate clinical staff at multiple levels. * Detail-oriented with excellent writing skills. * Knowledge of co-occurring disorders, substance use conditions, and psychotropic drugs of abuse. Preferred Education: * Master’s degree in Addiction, Social Work, Professional Counseling, or Psychology. Additional Requirements: The candidate must pass a Physical & Drug Screening (Including THC) & possess the ability to attend and successfully complete all required trainings. Individual must meet physical requirements of the job to include sitting at a meeting table or desk, reaching, lifting, bending, standing, stooping, twisting, climbing steps, and driving a vehicle. The candidate must pass required Criminal Record History Clearance, FBI and Child Abuse History Clearance. Must pass both federal and state background checks which screen for crimes including, but not limited to drug related crimes, violent crimes, sexual abuse, domestic violence, child abuse, and repeated misdemeanors.
