I. General Purpose of the job Responsible for the evaluation and overall provision of Occupational Therapy to patients who need sensorimotor rehabilitation, activities for daily living training, and range of motion to get through their day. II. Essential Duties & Responsibilities • The Occupational Therapist participates in the treatment of individuals through the use of physical agents; appropriate exercise, stretching or other generally accepted therapeutic practices., • Participates in the assessment of fine motor, perceptual motor, sensorimotor function., • Tests and evaluates patients' physical and mental abilities and analyzes medical data to determine realistic rehabilitation goals for patients' physical and mental abilities and analyzes medical data to determine realistic rehabilitation goals for patients. Determines therapeutic goals., • Evaluates patients' progress and prepares reports that detail progress., • Select activities that will help individuals learn work and life-management skills within limits of their mental and physical capabilities., • communicates therapeutic procedures to patients, parents/advocates, and staff members., • Recommends changes in patients' work or living environments, consistent with their needs and capabilities., • Consults with rehabilitation team to select activity programs and coordinates occupational therapy with other therapeutic activities., • Responsible for semi-annual in servicing of staff regarding occupational therapy., • Maintains a current record of patient's status, therapeutic interventions noted, and progress achieved., • Consults with equipment technicians and other adaptive equipment dealers as needed., • Supervises Occupational Therapist Assistants., • Supervises students from affiliate colleges., • Provides input in hiring Occupational Therapist Assistants., • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed. Complies with Agency requirements on the completion of outcome measures. Willingness to provide services in multiple sites as determined by patient/patient need. Maintain specified efficiency level as determined by Supervisor., • Travel required as needed to perform job., • All other duties pertaining to this position as assigned. III. Supervisor Responsibilities Directly supervises Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance wit h the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. IV. Qualifications To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Education and/or Experience Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university and one to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Graduate of a school accredited by American Occupational Therapy Association. Certification by the American Occupational Therapy Association. NYS License/Certification. VI. Necessary Skills & Abilities Language Skills Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public. Mathematical Skills Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. Reasoning Ability Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. Computer Skills To perform this job successfully, an individual should have basic to intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office software (Outlook, Excel, Word), as well as Practice Management and Electronic Medical Record software. VII.
