Summary: Assures optimum quality patient care by serving as a resource person for other staff members, patients, and family. Coordinates patient care with other departments. Assists the physician. Oversees treatment of medical and surgical patients needing dialysis procedures. Dialysis delivery of care includes assessment, problem identification, interventions and treatments, and evaluation of actual, potential or perceived physical or psychological problems. Procedures or treatments provided in Dialysis include but are not limited to: dialysis admission assessment, medication, IV therapy, administration of blood and blood products, pain control, O2 therapy, assisting physician with Quintons, dressing application and changes, Quinton Cath, declotting Quinton catheters, accessing AV shunt for diagnostic tests i.e. venograms, monitoring patient continually during Hemoreplacement treatment. HOW YOU'LL CONTRIBUTE A Registered Nurse (RN)] who excels in this role: • Accurately performs patient assessments and identifies patient needs, • Identifies and initiates appropriate nursing interventions, • Provides care appropriate to condition and age of the patient, • Performs timely and appropriate documentation relating to medical necessity in the medical record, • Responsible for completion and revision of the Interdisciplinary Care Plan for each patient, • Performs timely and accurate QI assessments, • Strong interpersonal and communication skills required., • Ability to work collaboratively with interdisciplinary teams., • Attention to detail in clinical documentation is essential., • Performs plan of care intervention, including medication administration, specimen collection, clinical treatments, as well as other medical care treatment., • Plans and documents patient care given., • Monitors, records, and communicates patient condition as appropriate to care team, physician, patient, and family., • Evaluates the assessment, planning and intervention process., • Demonstrates professional and personal development., • Delivers direct patient care appropriate to the age of patient served including adult and geriatric patients., • Works as an advocate for the physical and emotional well-being of the patient. WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR: This role requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action. • Applicants should have a current state RN license and possess a bachelor's degree from an accredited nursing school. Additional requirements include:, • Basic Life Support certification is required within 30 days of hire., • ACLS and PALS are required within six months of hire., • One year of nursing experience preferred, • ASLS certification preferred, • Dialysis experience required.
