Armed Security Officer Veterans Security Operations (VSO) is seeking professional, dependable, and highly motivated Armed Security Officers to provide security services at client locations. Armed Security Officers are responsible for maintaining a visible security presence, protecting people and property, responding to incidents, and providing professional service to clients, employees, and the public. Security Officers will be trained, certified, and licensed within compliance with the Washington Department of Licensing and the Washington State Criminal Justice Training Commission by VSO prior to their first shift. Responsibilities • Maintain a professional and highly visible security presence to deter criminal activity, suspicious behavior, and other security threats., • Conduct regular foot and/or vehicle patrols of assigned client properties., • Respond promptly and appropriately to incidents, emergencies, suspicious activity, and criminal activity., • Observe, identify, and report unusual conditions, activities, individuals, or vehicles., • Take reasonable and appropriate action within the scope of assigned duties to protect persons and property., • Respond to and de-escalate conflicts or potentially volatile situations in a professional manner., • Address client, employee, and public concerns or questions professionally and courteously., • Escort unauthorized individuals, trespassers, discharged employees, or other unwelcome persons from the premises when authorized and appropriate., • Contact law enforcement, fire, emergency medical services, or other emergency personnel when circumstances require., • Reasonably detain individuals suspected of criminal activity when legally appropriate and in accordance with Company policy and training until law enforcement arrives., • Complete accurate, detailed, and timely incident reports, daily activity reports, and other required documentation., • Follow all client Post Orders, VSO policies and procedures, firearms requirements, and applicable laws and regulations., • Perform other security-related duties as assigned. Minimum Requirements Applicants must meet the following requirements: • Must be 21 years of age or older., • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent., • Must possess or be able to obtain and maintain all required Washington State armed security guard licensing and certifications., • Must successfully complete all VSO-required firearms qualifications and training., • Must possess a personally owned firearm suitable for duty use and approved in accordance with VSO requirements., • Must possess a Level II retention duty holster compatible with the approved firearm., • Must possess a minimum of two magazines for the duty firearm., • Must possess an appropriate magazine pouch/carrier for the required magazines., • All Armed Security Officers are required to wear body armor while on duty. Body armor must meet VSO requirements and be worn as directed while performing armed assignments., • Armed Security Officers must maintain all required firearm, equipment, licensing, and qualification requirements as a condition of performing armed assignments., • Must possess a valid driver's license and meet Company insurability requirements., • Must have a satisfactory driving record and provide a driving record upon request or hire., • Must have reliable transportation to and from assigned work locations., • Must successfully complete all required background screening., • Must successfully complete pre-employment drug screening., • Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English sufficiently to perform required job duties and complete reports., • Must demonstrate strong communication and interpersonal skills., • Must be able to remain calm, professional, and composed during emergencies and stressful situations., • Must possess strong observation, judgment, and problem-solving skills., • Must be available to work assigned schedules, which may include nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime as operationally required., • Must provide two professional or personal references upon request. Required Armed Officer Equipment Armed Security Officers are required to report for duty with all required and approved equipment, including: • Approved duty firearm, • Level II retention holster, • Minimum of two firearm magazines, • Magazine pouch/carrier, • Required body armor Preferred Qualifications • Active Washington State Armed Security Guard License, • Two or more years of security experience, • Prior military experience, • Prior law enforcement experience, • Prior armed security experience, • Customer service experience, • Familiarity with Veterans Security Operations and its mission Physical and Professional Expectations Armed Security Officers must be capable of performing the essential functions of the position, which may include prolonged standing, walking, conducting patrols, responding to incidents, and working indoors or outdoors in varying conditions. Officers are expected to maintain a professional appearance and demeanor and comply with all VSO uniform, firearm, body armor, equipment, use-of-force, and safety requirements while on duty.
