Job DescriptionJob Title: Back Office Medical Assistant (Float) Job Description This back office float medical assistant role focuses on delivering high-quality, team-based patient care under the direct supervision of clinicians in a safe and friendly environment. You support clinicians and care management teams with both clinical and administrative functions, including chronic disease management, patient examinations, and treatments. You also perform a full range of laboratory testing procedures and phlebotomy, including venipuncture, finger sticks, and heel sticks, while helping promote health and wellness across a diverse patient population. Responsibilities • Provide team-based patient care under the direct supervision of clinicians in a back office medical setting., • Support clinicians and care management teams in assessing patients, maintaining chronic disease management, and assisting with examinations and treatments., • Perform all laboratory testing procedures, including phlebotomy such as venipuncture, finger sticks, and heel sticks, following established protocols., • Obtain and document vital signs, with an emphasis on manual vital signs when possible., • Use electronic medical records (EMR) systems to document patient information accurately and in a timely manner., • Apply knowledge of laboratory quality control requirements to ensure accurate and reliable test results., • Follow universal precaution procedures and medical safety practices to maintain a safe environment for patients and staff., • Communicate clearly and professionally with patients, coworkers, and other healthcare personnel to support coordinated care., • Assess emergency situations and respond appropriately according to established procedures., • Float between multiple clinic locations based on patient volume and operational needs., • Maintain an organized work area and manage tasks independently while meeting clinical and administrative deadlines., • Demonstrate reliability, responsibility, and professionalism in all patient and team interactions.Essential Skills, • High school diploma., • Medical assistant diploma OR Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) OR at least 3 years of experience working as a Medical Assistant (job titles must clearly indicate Medical Assistant)., • Phlebotomy experience, including venipuncture, finger sticks, and heel sticks., • Ability to take vital signs, with manual vitals strongly preferred., • Active Basic Life Support (BLS) certification., • Active driver’s license., • Ability to adapt to a changing work environment and varying patient volumes., • Knowledge of laboratory quality control requirements., • Knowledge of basic medical terminology., • Knowledge of universal precaution procedures and medical safety practices., • Strong phlebotomy skills and comfort performing routine lab procedures., • Ability to communicate effectively and maintain positive working relationships with patients, coworkers, and the public., • Ability to assess emergencies and act appropriately., • Flexibility to float between different clinic locations as patient queues demand., • Demonstrated independence, responsibility, and strong organizational skills.Additional Skills & Qualifications, • Experience with TriMed EMR or other electronic medical record systems., • Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) credentials., • Medical assisting diploma from an accredited program., • Experience working in pediatric or general medical assisting environments., • Familiarity with ECW or other healthcare software platforms., • Comfort working in a fast-paced, multi-site medical practice., • Strong interpersonal skills and a patient-centered approach to care.Work Environment This role is 100% onsite in a medical office setting and requires regular floating between multiple clinic locations in the greater Miami area, including Aventura, North Miami, Ives Estates, Skylake, and Miami Beach. You work closely with clinicians, care management teams, and support staff in a collaborative, patient-focused environment that emphasizes safety, quality, and efficiency. The schedule runs Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with every other Saturday from 7:45 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Week 1 averages approximately 42.5 hours and Week 2 approximately 46.75 hours. The environment involves frequent use of electronic medical records, routine phlebotomy and laboratory procedures, and adherence to universal precautions and medical safety protocols. Professional clinical attire is expected, consistent with a medical office setting. Job Type & Location This is a Permanent position based out of North Miami, FL. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $30000.00 - $35000.00/yr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
