A Nurse Practitioner, under the direction of the of a physician, is responsible for planning, evaluating and delivering the health care of patients on assigned service. Essential Duties and Responsibilities for a Nurse Practitioner: • Takes histories, performs physical examinations, gives immunizations (as necessary) and does patient education and counseling., • Orders appropriate lab work, draws blood for lab work if needed, and performs some lab tests such as wet prep microscopic exams., • Prescribes treatment for minor illnesses, and consults with physician regarding medication, chronic illness and referrals when appropriate., • Maintains legible and appropriate documentation and reviews records periodically. As the Medical Director/Attending Physician, you will take on the responsibility of overseeing and managing the primary medical care for residents at our facilities.
