Job Description Registered Nurse – Emergency Room (Travel) Location: Rochester, NY Job Type: Travel Contract Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 3×12 Nights Pay: $2,185.20/week Completion Bonus: $2,500 per contract (up to $7,500 after three contracts) Position Overview We are seeking an experienced Emergency Room Registered Nurse (RN) for a high-volume ER travel assignment. This role cares for mixed-acuity patients across all age groups—from neonates to geriatrics—in a fast-paced emergency department. The ideal candidate has strong clinical assessment skills, experience managing critically ill patients, and proficiency with emergency procedures and sedation. This unit supports high patient volumes and requires nurses who can float to other units when census requires. Candidates must be comfortable managing dysrhythmias, administering emergency medications, and providing procedural and moderate sedation. Key Responsibilities • Triage and assess emergency patients of all ages and acuity levels, • Provide emergency interventions including IV access, medication administration, cardiac monitoring, and stabilization, • Interpret and manage cardiac rhythms and dysrhythmias, • Administer continuous IV sedation, paralytics, and vasopressors as appropriate, • Perform phlebotomy, start and maintain IVs, and monitor isolation precautions, • Support trauma, stroke, cardiac, and multi-system emergency patients, • Provide procedural sedation and monitor moderate sedation cases, • Administer blood products and manage central lines, • Collaborate with physicians, respiratory therapy, pharmacy, social services, and rapid response teams, • Float to other units as needed based on census and patient needs, • Document thoroughly in Epic EMR (required proficiency), • Active New York RN license (required at time of submission), • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing, • Minimum 1 year recent full-time Emergency Room experience (required), • Strong knowledge of emergency protocols and high-acuity care, • Experience caring for adult and pediatric ER populations (required), • Certifications required:, • BLS, • ACLS, • PALS, • NIHSS, • Must be proficient in Epic EMR (required), • Strong IV start, EKG interpretation, sedation, and emergency response skills, • Ability to manage 1:5 ratio in a busy ER setting, • Must work every other weekend, • Weekly pay with competitive rates, • Health, dental, and vision insurance, • 401(k) retirement plan with company match, • Referral bonuses for referring talented professionals into our network ATC Healthcare has been a leader in healthcare staffing for nearly 40 years, offering personalized placement and support to healthcare professionals nationwide.
