Atrium is seeking on behalf of our client an EHS Specialist based in Pearl River, NY. A background check may be run only after a conditional offer is made, where permitted by law. Position: EHS Specialist Location: Pearl River, NY Employment Type: Full-time Compensation: $80k - $100k Position Overview The EHS Specialist evaluates and enhances workplace conditions to minimize risks from chemical, physical, and biological hazards. This role involves developing safety programs, conducting inspections, and ensuring compliance with relevant health and safety regulations. Must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Responsibilities • The EHS Specialist will assess work environments to identify and mitigate potential hazards, • Design and implement hygiene and safety programs, including noise and air quality monitoring, • Conduct accident investigations to determine root causes and recommend preventive measures, • Perform regular inspections to verify adherence to safety standards and legal requirements, • Advise teams and management on health and safety issues, • Maintain accurate records and documentation of safety activities, • Order suspension of unsafe activities when necessary, • Develop and deliver employee health and safety training Required Experience/Skills • Strong reading comprehension for technical documents and regulatory guidelines, • 5–8+ years of experience in Environmental Health and Safety roles, • Effective verbal and written communication skills for cross-functional collaboration, • Advanced problem-solving abilities to address complex safety challenges, • Proven experience in occupational health and safety compliance, • Proficiency with compliance and safety software (e.g., ESS Compliance Suite, OSHALOG 300), • Familiarity with database, email, presentation, and spreadsheet tools (e.g., Microsoft Access, Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel) Preferred Experience/Skills • Experience coordinating, supervising, or managing safety programs, • Exposure to accident investigation and workplace inspections, • Ability to analyze data and develop actionable insights for safety improvements, • Intellectual curiosity and strong attention to detail, • 1–3 years of leadership experience preferred Education Requirements • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Health and Safety, Occupational Safety, Industrial Hygiene, or a related field, • Professional certifications such as CSP, CIH, or CHMM preferred, • Continuing education in OSHA regulations and EHS best practices is a plus, • Knowledge of federal, state, and local safety regulations, • Training in risk assessment and hazard analysis methodologies Benefits If eligible under the ACA, medical, dental and vision benefits and time off in accordance with local paid sick time laws will be offered.
