Today, National Ramp is in search of a passionate and enthusiastic Senior Product Development Engineer that will bring their expertise to our team and help us grow to become the #1 Ramp Company in the World. The Senior Product Development Engineer will help lead the development of ramp systems and related products, with a strong emphasis on sheet metal design and fabrication. This role spans the full Product Life Cycle—from concept and initial sale to product service and support. The engineer will be responsible for designing, analyzing, testing, and validating innovative ramp solutions that meet industry standards for safety, durability, and performance. Key Attributes We Admire: • Confidence and determination, • Ability to build rapport across diverse personality types, • Active listening skills to truly understand and address customer needs, • Product Leadership: Drive the development of ramp systems including modular ramps, threshold ramps, and custom access solutions using sheet metal and other structural materials., • Design & Engineering: Create detailed CAD models and engineering drawings for sheet metal components, ensuring manufacturability and compliance with ADA and other regulatory standards., • Material Expertise: Select appropriate sheet metal grades and thicknesses to optimize strength-to-weight ratio, corrosion resistance, and cost-effectiveness., • Testing & Validation: Lead structural testing, fatigue analysis, and environmental validation of ramp products to ensure long-term reliability and safety., • Process Innovation: Implement advanced fabrication techniques such as laser cutting, CNC bending, and robotic welding to enhance production efficiency and product quality., • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with manufacturing, sales, and service teams to ensure seamless product launches and lifecycle support., • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or a related field., • Proficiency in CAD software (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Inventor) for sheet metal design, • Strong understanding of sheet metal fabrication processes including stamping, bending, welding, and finishing, • Experience with FEA tools for structural analysis, • Familiarity with GD&T and tolerance stack-up analysis, • Knowledge of ADA compliance, OSHA standards, and ISO certifications relevant to ramp systems, • Proven ability to manage end-to-end product development cycles, • Experience with design for manufacturability (DFM) and design for assembly (DFA), • Strong problem-solving and root cause analysis skills, • Effective time management and ability to juggle multiple projects simultaneously Our commitment to you goes beyond the usual. Location: Valley Cottage, NY (On-Site), 4 days a week Salary: The salary range for this position, based in Valley Cottage, NY, is $140,000- $150,000 per year, plus bonus opportunities.
