Hours Lead Literacy Coaches are contracted on a per diem basis, scheduled according to project needs. Coaching and professional development typically occur during school hours with flexibility for planning, debriefs, and collaboration meetings. Your Role As a Lead Literacy Coach, you will serve as a senior instructional leader and mentor within the CSAS coaching team. You’ll model best-in-class Science of Reading-aligned instruction, lead capacity-building for teachers and coaches, and collaborate with school leaders to ensure high-quality literacy instruction across grades K–2. You will guide both teachers and instructional coaches through coaching cycles, data analysis, and professional learning, ensuring that instructional practices are explicit, systematic, and evidence-based. What You’ll Do Instructional Leadership and Coaching • Lead job-embedded coaching cycles (co-plan, model, co-teach, debrief) for K–2 teachers implementing core and intervention literacy programs., • Mentor and support CSAS literacy coaches to strengthen consistency, coaching impact, and instructional excellence across schools., • Model and guide effective implementation of structured literacy programs., • Data-Driven Instruction, • Use Acadience, mCLASS, and classroom observation data to guide instructional priorities, group students for small group intervention, and identify areas for teacher growth., • Facilitate professional learning communities (PLCs), workshops, and teacher learning sessions aligned with the Science of Reading and district literacy goals., • Develop and deliver leadership coaching sessions to help principals and assistant principals support literacy fidelity and accountability., • Partner with district and school leaders to align instructional priorities, coaching goals, and student outcome targets., • Support internal CSAS teams by contributing to professional learning content, tools, and exemplars that elevate instructional practice. Minimum Qualifications • Master’s degree in Reading, Literacy, Curriculum and Instruction, or a related field., • Minimum 5 years of successful K–2 classroom teaching experience with evidence of improved student literacy outcomes., • Minimum 3 years of experience as a literacy coach, instructional specialist, or teacher leader., • Demonstrated expertise in the Science of Reading, structured literacy, and early foundational reading instruction., • Proven ability to lead adults, facilitate high-quality professional learning, and provide targeted, actionable coaching feedback., • Expertise with one or more of the following programs: UFLI, Heggerty, Fundations, Orton-Gillingham, Bridge the Gap, Really Great Reading, Phonics for Reading, or HMH Into Reading., • Experience leading teams or mentoring instructional coaches., • Strong communication, organization, and project management skills., • Competitive contract-based pay that reflects your leadership and expertise., • Opportunities for advancement within CSAS’s national network of literacy experts., • Collaborative and mission-driven culture focused on student success and instructional excellence., • Ongoing professional development aligned with cutting-edge literacy research and best practices., • The opportunity to make a lasting impact on educators, schools, and K–2 students across the country.
